Shingetsutan Tsukihime.....a masterpiece worth sacrifice

Post by ray_advent »

Perhaps people know this piece
Guess only a few know it
Back in my country......this aired at 11:30 pm
ot much of a big deal ?
I had to wake up at 4:30 am for school
So let's say that i have only 4 hours of sleep
this cotinued for 12 days
12 days of sacrifice for the pleasure of watching a very gothic, violent, intense and worthwhilepiece of animation history
For those of you who don't know, this anime was originally a doujin game published by type/moon
Doujin.......commonly a flash game with an erotic touch
But Tsukihime was different.........it wasn't erotic or anything.....it was a visual novel rendered by a common computer.....it's mysterous touch earned it's worth when it became an anime`

It's story start's off crazy and hard to understand for those who dont take anime seriously (like the one's who think Bebop and full metal alchemist as crap )but an extremely entertaining anime` for those who look at anime` as a lifesource, worthy of existence in any otaku,
vampire idolizers, goths, and lover's video memorabilla shelf to be watched over and over and ove............

Shiki(the protagonist) a normal high school boy with a very dangerous power meets a blonde girl.
Driven by a mysterious urge to kill her and rip her into pieces,as the day passes and the next day arises, he was suprised only to be confronted by the same person he killed yesterday........with a smile.
Arcueid greeted Shiki with a smile but demands retribution for that deed he did yesterday. The demand?, a helping hand...........for a killing spree
arises in the city. A killing spree where the victims
lie cold, lacking the blood that rigthfully belongs to them only to be taken by the rouge vampires. Arcueid and Shiki's nightly hunts elevates to a clash with a high ranking vampire, the discovery of his past, the truths behind his senior Ciel who has felling for him, Roa , the vampire who possesed Ciel and Shiki's stepbrother "Shiki", his intimate night with arcueid where he expresses his love and his desire to help her accomplish her goal and live a normal life only to be greted with a good-bye note at the side table, the duel of Arcueid and Roa ending up in arcueid's death and his duel with Roa ending up in his vitcory and the school's decimation.

In the end.....Ciel suddenly disappears from everybody's memories except Shiki's,and his acceptance that Arcueid's disapperance is only temporary and he will be able to take her for a date.

`Fin
It's a sacrifice but it's worth it
Even in the exams, i can still evision Arcueid dancing in the moonlight

It teached me that love can come from diffrent places,
even from the darkness that we fear

that's enough motivation for me to sleep only for 4 hours in a world where reality cannot be bended

perhaps, i bended my reality in the process
who knows ?

As a stand-alone anime, Tsukihime is a beautiful work of art. However, when you start comparing it to the visual novel, you realize how much the story was butchered. Arcueid and Shiki's personalities were completely rewritten, Akiha's power was never explained, Nrvnqsr gets practically no development (And the gruesome hotel massacre scene was severely toned down), Ciel's connection to Roa is never even brought up (Plus the anime doesn't show the insanely awesome Seventh Holy Scripture she's armed with v_v), and Hisui and Kohaku's backstory is omitted entirely.

So, if you ignore the source material, Tsukihime is a good watch. In all other cases, you're better off staying away from it >_>

even without out the info from the novel, it was still a good anime. The anime does explain the background relations between Ciel and Roa. But there was a lot of things that were left out. I enjoyed watching it
