Chobits Boxset Problems...

Post by JustWondering »

I just bought the Chobits Boxset from some guy on Ebay. It was the set with Chi wearing a light pink dress. Well when I got to the 2nd and 3rd discs, the animation was really sketchy when somthing moved. Anyone else have this problem?

Can't answer your question about the disc problem but wanted to say hello to another Northwesterner. You are the fourth ... no fifth one I know of when I count Anner in Vancouver.

Have to check in with Hakkai who buys a lot of stuff off e-bay. But I have had what appeared to be perfectly good discs form Netflix and Anime Takeout glitch on me. You should be able to send it back and get a replacement or your money back. Annoying to have to do so though.

:D YEAH! Another PNW poster. 8) Going to SakuraCon in April, justwondering? Daughter will be Milly Thompson.. I really did a great gun for her.

Ok... Just this week DL(Dark Lilly) has a Decendents Of Darkness set off eBay and she says it's wonderful. I have gotten one so far I had to return, FLCL ( which was an obvious bootleg once I got it) and it was replaced and worked OK. I have had good luch so far but I do try to us US sellers. :!: So if there is a problem, get in touch with the seller... they do try to correct most problems.

Another thing I've chatted with DL here about are the sets that say English dialog. It has to be the same as what we would get because no one would be able to seel them as cheap if they re-did the voices.

An illegal copy. No royalties are paid to the originator. Same is pirating. Also happens with music and movies all the time. Stiff penalties if you get caught.

Hey Dark Lilly, you seem to know a lot about anime, so I was wondering something. Why do some people say that mangas are better than anime on T.V.? I never really tried mangas, but I never complained about the shows.

Well, it's kind of like reading a novel and then seeing a movie. Most of the time the movie leaves out things that were special to you about the book .... and sometimes they even change the ending.

The same is true of manga and anime. Anime is frequently created based on a popular manga. Hardcore fans of the manga often see the anime as inferior .... and in some cases they are right. The Angle Sanctuary OAV* couldn't possibly encompass what little I have seen of the manga. I now want to read the manga.

It's like saying apples are better than oranges. They are both good and together make a great fruit salad! In other words, I think they can compliment each other.

*Original Anime Video - went straight to video without airing on TV. Sometimes better production. Sometimes more mature.

Yes, Dark L. is very smart on anime and manga. Even tho I may have been doing it longer, she retains more info.. got an intellegent head on her shoulders, I'd say! A great lady, indeed!

OK... manga! Just to give you an idea why people seem to want manga is the amount of stuff left out to "clean it" for us ignorant Americans. Like we either don't or won't get it, or it's considered too SHOCKING to show us. My amount of manga has grown more than my dvd's of late.

Example... Sailor Moon, can it get any cleaner than that? The dvd totally leaves out the lesbian action which is in the manga. Just a simple example, there are tons more. Peacemaker is another that has already left a lot out, I am getting both dvd and manga.I don't like being 'lied' to.

Bootleg. It's not all that easy to know ahead of time since you don't see the cover it comes in. I am learning. What I end up with mostly are European releases or original Japanese ones. European releases usually have dubbing in English (the same voices we hear) and use the same number of discs as the Japanese releases.

Seems people think Americans are RICH and will pay more for our Anime. Like Dark's Decendents Of Darkness dvd set was 13.99 for all 13 episodes. If bought here, it would take 4 discs, not 2(or3) and each would be from 22.99 to 29.99. Do the math.

Of course... if the people buy it at those prices, it will stay up there. I admit I have bought plenty!
