A Dog Sits waiting

A dogs sits waiting in the cold autumn sun,
Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run.
He's been here for days now with nothing to do
But sit by the road, waiting for you.
He can't understand why you left him that day.
He thought you and he were supposed to play.
He's sure you'll come back, and that's why he stays.
How long will he suffer? How many more days?
His legs have grown weak, his throat's parched and dry.
He's sick now from hunger and falls, with a sigh.
He lays down his head and closes his eyes.
I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.

A Thousand Candles
Love is a room of a thousand candles,
each plays a special part.
In a love that burns bright and warm,
within two lover's hearts.
At first the room is lit bright,
flames seem to dance with joy.
We smile and laugh like children
on Christmas with a brand new toy.
The flames burn hot, they keep us warm,
like the sun on a spring time day.
The world is bright, our hearts are full,
we laugh and sing and play.
But in a room of a thousand candles,
winds of time can kill a flame.
A shadow of doubt can dim the light,
things will never be the same.
The wind can be a word said in haste,
or something that's just taken wrong.
The shadow could come from the past,
the flames will die if it stays too long.
So we watch as the flames flicker and die,
the light in the room grows dim.
We try to re-light the candles,
they just go out again.
In the room of a thousand candles,
we feel the warmth begin to fade.
A lie can cool a lovers heart,
turn a warm day to winter shade.
Beware when you open the windows,
in the room where your love lights glow.
The rain will put out your rays of hope,
and your fears will start to grow.
For the candles seem to go out quickly,
once the first cold wind comes in.
Though we try to fight the storms of life,
we find it's too late, we just can't win.
In a room of a thousand candles,
cold wind blows across our hearts.
We wonder where love went wrong,
as we sit here thinking in the dark.

in this nocturnal hell.

you can't ring heaven's bell.

people lie to you,
and say they're your friends.
But before your life was through,
you knew it in the end.

our souls drift in the alley,
we're the only ones.
Come to death valley,
you're always welcome.

Come into the darkness,
I think you know it well.
If you think your ruthless,
you're under my spell.
