i prefer Green Day over lame-assed Good Charlotte.

Although I wouldn't call Green Day punk punk rock. They're more like sell out punk and now alternative rock.

Much as I hate to say it, Green Day was punk, back in the day. Far from the fathers of punk, but definitely a band that helped ease punk into the main stream. Nowadays, they're more alt rock than anything.

Green Day gets my vote on this, if we're talkin about old, "Dookie," Green Day.

Lol. I like GC's 'I Don't Wanna Be In Love'. Ummm Green Day is kinda blah. There older stuff was better. So yea...Good Charlotte wins.

Green Day is about as much the original punk band as Slipknot is the original metal band or Puddle of Mudd is the original grunge band. Green Day is barely even punk, and there are TONS that came before them. New York Dolls, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Ramones, and all those bands were the original punk.

And don't even get me started on all the better punk bands than Green Day. The aforementioned proto-punk bands, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Fugazi, Public Image Ltd., Meat Puppets, ect. Bring in all the metal/hardcore punk fusion genres (Grunge, Thrash/Groove metal, Sludge Metal, Grindcore, etc.) and I could go on all day with better punk bands than Green Day.

Anyway, Green Day's okay: I really did like Dookie. Good Charlotte is just plain awful

They're both good bands, but I prefer Green Day! Plus... I don't really like many Good Charlotte songs, so.... 8)
