I play on expert
Guitar Hero rocks the shizz out of everything for me right now and has done for some time. The only thing thats abit sad is that there isn't alot of good music in the games :/
Favorite song from GH2: Thunderhorse (99% on expert! ^^)
Favorite song from GH3: Raining Blood (Don't remember what my best is on this one, but I manage pretty good ^^ Finish the first mosh without star power on expert
)

Anyone here of Guitar Rising?
Probably should make a new thread for that. It'll be all the rage when it comes out.
Think of GH, only instead of a fake, plastic, fischer-price looking toddler-toy, you use your own real guitar. It'll be for computer only, at this point in time, but you plug your guitar in via USB and rock out.

I played Rock Band! My friends made me sing because I wasn't great at the guitar, and incredibly bad at the drums
I need to get GH3 so I don't suck no more

Rock band is unbelievably fun whenever you have people to fill all the spots. Online play only adds to the awesomeness.
Alone though, I'd rather play GH3. Dead Kennedys rule.

I don't see the appeal of these games....it's not like your really playing a guitar, just because you played in in GH doesn't mean you could ever play it it real life......its seems pointless to me.

I thought the same thing whenever I watched for the first time. The people look ridiculous, the gameplay looks mundane, and the bright, flashy colors looks like a failed attempt to attract children to a pointless game.
Give it a shot though. It's real fun once you get into it. It's not really a spectator sport. You'll see how addicting it is once you're playing. It has brought people into video games that have always hated video games. When there's a party going on, GH is always the life and blood. Get some alcohol in ya and you may even do better, like me >.<

Ah, yeah, 'tis a two-hander game. The left-hand is the busy hand, with finger stretches and fast-paced playing. The right hand has it a bit easier, ya just gotta strum the little 'dingy' down (or up and down, if you feel like playing expert).

In the beginning was the Win, and the Win was with Gai, and the Win was Gai.

For the first time ever I played guitar hero last night, had a few beers in me. But it didn't appear to hamper my ability to thrash what I'm assuming was an easy mode - as it was waaaaaay to easy. I remind you though I do play real guitar. But it must of been on easy. cause i only had to use 4 of the buttons. and a lot of the time when i played a note on my guitar, the real song played like ... MORE! it was lame to the real experience of playing guitar. but whats this expert mode?

4 buttons is medium...hard if they throw a few orange in as well. I started off in medium and didn't do too bad. The concept was easy enough, and as long as you understand you have to strum AND press the button down medium should show no problems.
Expert is pretty nasty though...Gotta have some pretty wicked hand-eye coordination, great reflexs, the ability to strum up and down, play some nasty power-chords and pull some hammer-ons/offs.
GH is always more fun with a bit of alcohol in ya,

i dont think u could do a hammer on or a pull off on it? the closest thing would be pushing a note and not strumming or picking. but would the game let u fret the notes and not strum?

Absolutely. On expert, you HAVE to do that, as strumming is some times out of the question due to the sheer number of notes.

This is why a 9 year old kid is better than you at GH. Youll see some hardcore hammer-on/offs right in the beginning. He plucks the first note, then the following million or so he doesn't have to strum again.
