But, I will say this, sometimes I do kinda prefer underrated anime in the sense of that it doesn't get played out and boring like mainstream anime.

I love Naruto and I love Bleach, but jeez, the fans can take it overboard unnecessarly.

But then again, I guess you can't control what becomes popular with the fans.
That's actually a really smart and practical attitude to have towards this. =D Kudos!

Underrated anime is sometimes really good because it's so original it's... for lack of a better word, different - and fresh to watch!
With mainstream anime, sometimes everyone tells me what happens before I even watch the show so I don't bother.

Ha Ha, tell me about it, but I'm a fan too - and I've done my fair share of 'uncalled for rampaging'. Mainly towards Yu-Gi-Oh! and all the people who told me it was stupid xDD
Now when people tell me that, I just laugh and nod. I still enjoy the show, I just understand what they're saying.

Oh, and Ichigo - yes indeed, that would be boring. Luckily there are very few people who like and hate all of the exact same shows I do; or they do for very different reasons.
Though, those I have met who are similar (aka; One Piece fans who watch the show for Usopp) are good friends because of our common fandom.

But yeah, I've heard that philosphy before - if everyone was the same; no progress would be made.
No one would ever make new brands and genres of anime - and we'd all watch the same stuff over and over again.

Ha Ha, I type way too much. <3
Naw, your just fine. It's good to have some people who talk and have fun.

I've been to some boards where the people were so lame and borning.

But not here!!

Anyway, I doubt that the other person is still here.
Yep. InuYasha was Adult Swim's most highest rated and popular show. InuYasha was the first anime I saw and it was my favorite! I was a fan girl of Sesshomaru.

But around 2005 I got over InuYasha. Not only that, I hated how it ended.

But yep, it was mainstream, and the fans took it overboard. Well, except for me of course : )

I can answer this thread with one statement

In the beginning was the Win, and the Win was with Gai, and the Win was Gai.

It's not that I hate mainstream anime, I just don't watch them. Some fans get the idea that this makes me a hater of them. I don't care how popular Inuyasha is, I liked it better when it was called Ranma 1/2, and I liked it even more when it was called Urusei Yatsura. I could go on but most mainstream anime right now looks or sounds a lot like the stuff I watched years ago.

I do watch mainstream anime's like BLEACH and Naruto but I probably like the lesser known ones better, things like Slayers.

Ditto, but when it comes to an anime going mainstream; by that point I've moved on to something else. Usually in the mecha genre.

Well, I don't care about how mainstream or underdog a anime is, as long as it's fun. The only problem is getting to know that some anime exist... mainestream ones are the ones we all know and see, but the underrated one are hard to discover, and it is even harder to find good ones.
