the idea that you have for him using the strands of hair to sniff Naraku out is a good thought but faulty in the sense that Naraku has a barrier that is strong enough to displace Sesshoumaru to his scent. that's why, when Naraku had his night of weakness, InuYasha was able to sniff him out. problem being though, once Naraku returns from where he's been...he's super strong and stuff. not cool at all (i still blame Kikyo). it is a good idea but InuYasha already as Naraku's stench ingrained on memory, i'm sure of it.
