May is the best girl to travel with Ash. May had more purpose than Misty and is an interesting character. Misty is an hot-headed jerk who didn't really have a purpose other than to give girl watchers something to relate to and have Ash pay back the bike. Most fan like Misty because of nostalgia. Dawn is okay, but she is too girly and reminds me of Misty because of her voice and her attitude.

May has participated in the Wallace Cup Tournament in Sinnoh. The event also marked Wallace's animé debut. She ended up as the runner-up, and Dawn won the tournament.

I like May most, but the others are good too. Brock, for example, can totaly search for his entire life and NOT find a girlfriend, and I pity him.
