teach me this magical language of which you speak!!!please!!

It's not nearly as complex as English, but as usual we find ways to screw it up.

が can also be used for saying things like that?

Since it's something you do, I've always thought the を was the appropriate particle... :|

This is where it gets tricky, alot of the time, you can use either ga or wo with verbs

In this case, you are expressing a state of being more than an action, that state of being is not being able to speak Japanese, in this case you would be more likely to use ga, that said, you could probably get away with using wo as well

I never said this language was easy to understand

Once I think I know how to work with "ga", something else gets thrown into the fray, rendering me confused yet again.

After your explination though, it does make more sense...thanks for clarifying for me.

And yes. It's not easy. I know that aaaaall too well :? :heh:

"Muuko-ni itte-yo" or "Achi itte-yo". Take your pick, but both of them are rather rude.

"Acchi e ike" can work too I think.

*pops in* do you all mind taking on another student? i'm learning to read and write Japanese but i have no clue how to speak it, so when my friend starts talking i'm clueless and have to have her write, and re-write what she's saying,....makes it worse that i can only respond by writing, but it'd be better if i got the whole SOV format down....

(question,...do you do the whole word conjugation like in french? if i can relate it to a language i semi-understand then it may be easier.)

Why should that matter?

*scratches head*...you can read them, yet not able to form the words verbally? Is it the speed that bothers you?

Well, from what I understand from the students at my school taking French and from what one of them told me, I think it does similarly go along that line...I'm not too sure.

The SOV format is just the basic to simple sentencing. It gets a little complicated after someone learns more and form complex sentences than just saying "My name is so-and-so and I like pizza" and such.

In any case, where do you wish to start?
