Re: Protesting gay and bisexual relationships
Am I unlocke? Locke? Is Locke unlocke? Because Locke became Aristotle. Hmm. Everything seems to point to me being unlocke... "hopelessly smarter than twits" yada yada yada. Hmm, Oh I wonder.
There is a big similarity between me and Gravy: We always win. Or at least argue intelligently.
Once again on this argument, good job Gravy for not brining religion into it. But one question: elaborate on the legal/finacal complications?
Marriage has traditionally been between man and woman, but, traditionally it also involved a man selling his daughter without her consent, to the son of a a rich member of society who perhaps paid the father some land or some cows.
In fact originally marriage was based on common law, not the church. The church incorporated marriage into its system when a church-state was formulated in england/europe.
Divorce was illegal too. But that changed curtesy of our friend Henry.
So why can't the concept of marriage change once more to reflect changing social morés as it has always done?
Civil unions do not give people the same financial benefits as marriage. Given the notion of secular government this is therefore an infringement of constituents rights. The government awards benefits based on religion.

This particular argument may be 4 months old, but the issue is still current. Shouldn't you have thought of good arguments by now? Enlighten us
(one of you has to say it took me almost a month to think of this very comment)

Re: Protesting gay and bisexual relationships
well since this has been resurected im just going to throw my oppinions out there. not letting gays get married is obviously something to take our minds off the war. this of coarse, has worked. everyone is focused on this somewhat more then the war. instead of headlines that really matter such as "people risking there lives in iraq" and things like that its "more gays are trying to get married." i just want to know who gives a flying f*ck who people are married to. i mean who cares. if two people love eachother, why is this an issue? its just another form of raceism. maybe not for color but for belifs. and that whole "its against my religion" bullshit is a load of crap. they have proven time and time again that the bible dosnt say that. religions just use that to get people to do whatever they want. like there motto "belive what i say or burn in hell" what a crock of [censored].

Never have I heard a more well thought out, logical, evidenced argument. And "SexiKakashi", you're a deluded, retarded philistine with absolutely no grasp of reality. "Oh noes I'm so sexy and all the girls loves me and I can charm anyone but no one will ever be good enough for me boo hoo hoo hoo" ....wait a minute....you're an ugly dumb piece of crap that couldn't get a girl if he tried? Oh...hang on, unlike you am I able to evidence my claim: ...you tried to pick up a 13 year old on myspace and failed? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Maybe people don't bother to argue with us because we kick their asses?
Or maybe we don't argue with "people" because we aren't interested in intellectualising as to who is sexier, - Keanu Reeves or Orlando Bloom.
Saying people don't argue with us because we're "morons" is silly, I mean, comon, who doesn't want to fight someone they know they will pulverise with supreme ease?
Oh wait, I forgot. People actually argue with gravytrain and myself more than with anyone else. I think your entire argument collapsed like the twin towers.

Re: Protesting gay and bisexual relationships
Hmm...Such a touchy subject, and it's only getting more and more critical..
IMO, living in America, we all have the right to be whoever or whatever we want to be. We can love who want to love, and should not be discriminated. Though I'm straight m'self, I'm not some right winged homophobe. I fully support gay/bi relationships. Why bash on them? They've done nothing wrong but choose to love someone.
A week ago I read the chilling account of Charlie Howard, a homosexual young man growing up in the 80s. He was rejected and criticized by many, and even when he moved to Bangor Maine, he was still unaccepted, and killed. People wrote graffiti on his wall. People hurt him.
It's disgusting. All of it is just downright disgusting. I cannot believe some people can be so freaking hypocritical and unacceptable. People can love whoever they want, and they shouldn't be discrinated, hated, and abused for it.

Could you tell me who's stopping gays and lesbians from loving each other? Is there some sort of secret organization that I do not know about?Lawliet wrote:Hmm...Such a touchy subject, and it's only getting more and more critical..

The reason why g/l are being discriminated is that they are different . It has long been the history of mankind to hate what is not the norm and being gay or lesbian just falls under that category. In addition, they make it worse for themselves by this " O woe is me" attitude that they have.
There are genocides going on around the world that we choose to ignore, but anytime someone famous or otherwise in the United States merely utters something like "queer" there is this huge media uproar, and all these gay and lesbian groups stir up this huge protest and all useless [censored] that people do not want to hear about.
However, where was the huge protest every time a black man was lynched back in the 18 and 19 hundreds? Where was the protest when thousands of Native Americans were massacred and forced to move from their homelands in the early days of U.S. history?
And where are the protest today about the hundreds of thousand of people in Sudan, where a genocide is going on right now, while still more are losing their homes, their children, their way of life, all because of a few ethnic differences? Where is their media coverage?
If you ask me g/l have it easy compared to the other groups of people who have been discriminated against because they're different and they really better get their priorities straight when they take up this whole "woe is me" attitude, because there are many groups of people who have been discriminated against who would love to trade places with the gays and lesbians. So, watch what you say when you say that they are being, discriminated against, hated and abused.

Re: Protesting gay and bisexual relationships
no thats a crock. gays and lesbiens are discriminated. dont say that gays/ lesbians arnt disriminated. i see it allll the fricking time. i know some more then just gays are discriminated but saying that they barely are is stupid. those were the 1800 and 1900s. people were illiterate and not well learned. you would think the morons would know by now how to behave to another ones lifestyle. what you need to understand is that in this day and age WE SHOULDNT HAVE DISCRIMINATION OF ANY KIND!

Re: Protesting gay and bisexual relationships
excuse me while I laugh at your pathetic excuse for a comeback... Now back to business, see I know that what I typed may have been a little much for you to read, so let me quote a few things for you to make it simpler, because you obviously read a lot of things that I did not type..
First at hand
Now tell what does this say sis? Right it says the reason why... it does not say anything about gays and lesbians not being discriminated against now does it.
Now here is where you should have attempted to argue. Not that you can say much... but I kindly ask you to refrain from misquoting me in the future.
Now as for you back in the 1900s comment, thats called an example, and do not even think to say back then because one it was happening today

try this site and ask your selves if gays or lesbians have to go through the things these people have to go through before you come back and say that that was a long time ago. So what they can't get married, try being raped and murdered and tortured in the thousands, and have. And then think about losing everything that you have now, and being betrayed by your friends just because your of a different ethnic background not because of an alternative lifestyle.
