Pronunciation in japanese is terribly easy, especially compared to English. The rules are simple.

if you see an a, it's pronounced "ah", no MATTER what
-e, "eh"
-i, "eeh (like in eel)"
-o, "oh"
-u, "oooh (like in blue)
of course, there's exceptions:

-ai, kinda like "I" or "tie" (in songs you can hear them split up some times")
-ei, like the ey in "hey"
-ou, this is also 'oh', but it's enlongated/2 syllables. so it's kinda like "oh oh"... it's kinda hard to explain.

Also, one more thing. 'R's in japanese are pronouced with a very light 'd' sound. There aren't any L's in japanese either, they're all pretty much replaced with R's.

I think that just about covers it all.

the noun:
AI 愛 (deep, spiritual love)
KOI 恋 (romantic love)
REN'AI 恋愛 (passionate love, more like "KOI")
AIJOU 愛情 (affectionate love)

the verb:
AI SURU 愛する (to love)
KOI O SURU 恋をする (to love, be in love, fall in love)
KOI NI OCHIRU 恋に落ちる (to fall in love)
SUKI 好き (to like strongly)
DAISUKI 大好き (to like very strongly)
REN'AI SURU 恋愛する (to romance someone)

phrases:
[thing/person] O AI SURU を愛する - I love [thing/person]

AI SHITE'RU　愛してる - "I love you" - so common nowadays that it really needs no introduction, does it? It is shortened from AI SHITE IRU　愛している. SHITE IRU　している is the ongoing form of SURU　する, so you are almost literally saying "I've loved you for a long time". It can be used the same way AI SURU is, with the [thing/person] O AI SURU pattern.

[thing/person] GA SUKI/DAISUKI (DA/DESU)　が 好き/大好き だ/です - I like/love [thing/person] - DESU, or its plain form DA, can be tacked onto the end depending on the level of formality needed.

[thing/person] NI KOI O SURU　に恋をする - To fall in love with [thing/person] - the KOI phrases using SURU are uncommon, so use them with caution.

[thing/person] NI/O KOI SURU　に/を 恋する - To love [thing/person], be in love with [thing/person] - refer to above

[thing/person] TO KOI NI OCHIRU　と恋に落ちる - To lose one's heart to [thing/person]

[person] TO REN'AI SURU　と恋愛する - To become romantically involved with [person]

With the exception of SUKI/DAISUKI, it is probably more common to use these phrases with PEOPLE rather than THINGS. It is not completely uncommon to use the latter, but I imagine you'd sound a little weird and get some stares.

Darling, honey, and so on are all traditionally ANATA あなた.

Wives use ANATA when addressing their husbands, and it translates to those cutesy names listed above. Guys may use OMAE おまえ in return, but it's becoming an old-fashioned term. While ANATA still remains a neutral term when unsure of status, name, or dealing with foreigners, it's better to use [name]-SAN, KIMI, etc when saying "you" unless there is a familiar relationship going on. Girls will use ANATA between each other, but even then it will get shortened to ANTA.

Other pet names are just going to be at the discretion of the speaker. Cutesy things like shortening a name and adding a suffix are common. Yamato -> Yamachan

Sunshine has several readings, and so long as you're not planning on using them as a nickname, here they are:
