Ok, so if people don’t like the idea why are they pushing the people who say it’s a good idea?

I think that if custom user title id get added to the features of this site, there should be some words that can't be placed.

For example, a user shouldn't be able to write down moderator as their user title unless they are a moderator.

I've seen spam and randomness out the wazoo in mindless chit chat as well. (Although it doesn't bother me). You have a point there. As for Off Topic discussions, I have seen little to no spam or immaturity taking place.

I am not going to start pointing fingers at users; I would not be a very good mod if I did that.

Fair enough. Even though their is a lot of spam and immaturity taking place on this forum it's not all of the users. Only a handful of them. Why reject a cool feature just to prevent a handful of trouble makers from abusing it? There's plenty of well behaved users on this site that deserve the privilege.

This may seem like a waste of time for you but for me it isn't. I feel custom user titles would be really nice to have. Plus, I enjoy debate and intense discussion.

The reason I keep posting because I know for a fact you are incorrect, with that aspect anyway.

I understand that you cannot list usernames of troublemakers to prove that AA shouldn't have this feature but that doesn't mean you're claims are any more correct than mine.

I would have to single out countless users and I refuse to do so, I am not in a position that I am able to.

You seem to crave examples, yet I haven’t seen you give any, all you have speculation. However I don’t really care if you do as it is all opinionated at this time.

As I've said already, I've seen a variety of forums that have custom user titles and no one abuses them. These forums even have huge amounts of active members and the abuse of custom user titles is definitely the least of their concerns. Their main problems lie with people making threads in the wrong place, trollers, and fanboyism.

This idea of yours might work. It'll help prevent people from abusing this feature seeing as how abuse is a concern of moderators.

I think immaturity in posts should have no baring on how a member would utilize this feature (if added). The custom title would obviously have a limited amount of characters to work with, and a word filter to block out anything crude. I don't see how one can "spam" or "abuse" a feature like this if the above two things are put in place with the custom title itself.

I agree. Besides, if they do put anything that is vulgar or racy, they can be banned or something.

I am uncomfortable with this as I do see abuse of the current features our accounts have. Infact an incident the other day was one of them unfortunately.

It would be difficult to create a library of inappropriate user titles, as you said Hallow if someone wanted to use "moderator" or something offence. Good idea non the less.

It is often the case the few can ruin the aspirations of the many.

I feel that as a moderator that if something gets out of hand it is my duty to correct the situation as best as humanly possible.

But also and I'm only guessing that Dret would agree with me, part f doing our job must include preventing problems before they even occur if it is at all possible.

So I must say that I am on the fence with this issue and that while it would add a fresh breeze to AA, it also has the possibility of creating a huge mess.

But hell thats what we mods are here for

Lastly I will say this to both sides, do not underestimate the potential of AA users.

Of course, only the webmaster can add this. Even if we all want this feature it won't mean diddly-squat if the webmaster doesn't want it.
