Anime Movies

Post by Storm »

Okay, I'm compiling a list of good anime movies. I don't really know very many, so I need some names of good ones you've seen and maybe a review.

I ~finally~ saw Princess Mononoke. It was as good as I hoped.
And I saw Spirited Away. What an imagination! It was gorgeous!

So what are some other good anime movies I should look out for? Educate me! ^_^

I didnt know what was the best on the poll, so I just guessed that 1 is. I rated it a one, it remains one of my favorite movies, despite my declining interest in anime as of late.

Yeah, 1 is the highest rating and 5 is the lowest. I really enjoyed Mononoke. It was great how they were moving a lot. And the fact that the ground didn't move faster than their feet did. I hate it when that happens in other movies.

Yes, I loved the movie too, it's fantastic. I give it a 2 cuz I like Spirited Away better.

I liked it. It was no Char's Counterattack, but it was good. I'd give it a 4/5, so it would be a 2.

So what are some other good anime movies I should look out for? Educate me! ^_^

If your into bloody movies with awesome ninjas and weapons etc, i recommend Ninja Scroll. It's violent, and only watch it if you get mummys 'ok.'

Here is some info about it if your interested(I have read the anime description, but not the character profiles; there aren't any spoilers in the anime description that will wreck the movie for you):

ps. Spirited Away kicks ass! :D
I haven't seen Akira yet but one of my school teachers says its good *thumbs up* so i might look into that...
And i haven't seen Princess Mononoke -_-

lol Has anyone seen uh...'Naussica in the Valley of the Winds' or something? lol

I have seen Nausicaa, a big disappointment compared to the manga, which was bloody fantastic. The plot was oversimplified, and removed many of the important parts of the manga, (i.e. Nausicaa's mother-son relationship with the God Machine monster thingie) i'd give the movie a 3 out of 5, and the manga deserves a 6 or 7 out of 5. Yes, the manga is that amazing.

I haven't read the manga, and I fell asleep through the movie which remained interesting for some time but...lol It got a bit boring...

If your now wondering why I brang it up it's because i wanted to see what others thought of it. I still would like to see this movie though. I was just watching it cause it came on tv like, 2 nights ago.... lol :D

The first half is pretty good, it stayed sorta faithful to the manga, but it eliminated the complex subplots. The second half of the film is where the movie fell apart. I say watch it, then pick up the first manga. You will be blown away.

Oh yes, and as for other anime movies, I enjoyed all of these movies;
Space Runaway Ideon: A Contact
Space Runaway Ideon: Be Evoked
Steamboy
Ghost in the Shell (Has nudity)
Megazone 23 Trilogy (Has LOTS of nudity)
RahXephon: Pluras Concierto (ONLY WATCH AFTER SEEING THE SERIES!)
Mobile Suit Gundan: Char's Counterattack
Patlabor: the movie
