Some Manga that you SHOULD be reading...

Okies. As I stroll around this lovely anime site, I come to notice the tastes of people in their manga and anime. What dissappoints me is that some ppl aren't reading some of the truly excellent titles out there. Here are some that, if you aren't reading, should be doing so...

Rurouni Kenshin:A personal favorite, RK combines an excellent action story with Meiji Restorartion of Japan history connotations and a memorable romantci comedy story. RK is a best selling and wildly successful manga. 19 out of 28 volumes have been published, each has been monthly. Come mid summer 06, the entire series will be out. As of 18, the series has reached its Jinchu arc, the final arc that portrays Yukishiro Ensihi's desired revenge aganst Kenshin. I really dont want to spoil anything...

Bleach:Another personal fave. Bleach has an excellent action comedy story, with some initially indorect romance that grows fervently. Ichigo Kurosaki was 15 year old guy who has the ability to see ghosts. He finds a soul reaper, Rukia Kuchiki, and becomes a soul repaer himself. That is a brief and rough bio of the manga. Read it or be deprived.

Naruto:Need I say anything about this one? Buy this. Now.

Negima!:To those who dont know, Ken Akamatsu published and wrote Love Hina, a manga that won manga/anime of the year in 2003/2004. Negima! is Akamatsu's latest masterpiece. Negi is a 10 yr old wizard who, upon completing his magical studies, is assigned to be a teacher at a girls highschool. Provocative, huh? This is Akamatsu's manga stlye, playing with romance and profound comedy and beautiful girls. However, unlike AI Love You or Love Hina, Negima! has more action. Romantic comedy and girls are still there, just be prepared for some action. What is even weirder is that Negis romantic is Asuna, a 14-yr old. I can really further explain; the manga is good and provides some interesting and fun characters.

Tsubasa:CLAMPs latest work, Tsubasa combines all of CLAMPs characters from other mangas and weaves a compelling Action Romance story. Syaoran must recover princess Sakura's feathers to restore her memory and conquer the evil behind it all. Excellent title.

Full Metal Alchemist:Again, need I say more? Buy now.

I reccommend all those mangas with gusto, especially RK, Bleach, Negima, and Tsubasa.

Akira: much better than the anime
Appleseed: WTF!?
Dirty pair: yeah, those girls are gonna save us?
Bubblegum crisis: return of the cyber punk

Ah, Rikoku, you introduce a very good point. This manga is my taste yes. But, please dont call me a geek, at my Japanese class and anime club, i surveyed what genres ppl were into and specefic anime titles. You may also question as to why the metnuioned titles are ususally on the top 10 selling manga. Akira is very good too. So is Neon Genesis Evangelion which many ppl consider an anime/manga standard.

Gravitation: It rulez!^^ BUY THE DARN BOOK!D.N.Angel: That should be number one..well, i didn't see the cmplete anime but so far, the manga is better. It's funy for both boys and girls!^^ BUY NOW
.HACK//LEGEND: I fell in love with it. Shugo rulez! what sucks though is that there's only 3 books when there are so many episodes in the anime.
Naruto:I got completely hooked when i 1st read it. BUY NOW

whose calling you a geek? im just saying that, while your taste usually kicks ass, people might not like your taste in manga. ^^ i probably will tho. now, to FIND some in england... thats the hard part for me.

As to favorites..Immortal Rain.
It's an incredible story, even if the art doesn't appear to be impressive, and addictive.
Real Bout High school,
Hilarious. The characters are extraordinary, the plot, ideas, and art are extremely Japanese, and yet it's really a good read. Easy to read over and over again, and certainly a good buy.

If you like Real Bout High School, you should try Tenjho Tenge. Its pretty good. I wouldnt say it makes the list for my reccommendations tho.

Of the ones you mentioned, I've only really been following Negima! Akamatsu-san is a very talented writer/artist. I've heard a lot of good things about the rest of them, but I haven't had the time or money to pick them up yet.

Other books I think you should be reading are:
Girls Bravo - this one is very hillarious. Yukinari gets a rash every time he's near a girl, and visits a planet filled with them.

Yotsuba&! - a.k.a. Yotsubato. Kiyokiko Azuma wrote & drew this one. Enough said.

Gold Digger - o.k., it's American manga. But Fred Perry is still a great writer/artist.

Ninja High School - o.k., this one's American manga too. The new team of Reid & Dunn (Dunn was one of the first American manga artists, btw) are pulling this series back on track.
