Lame. Dark Cat is so lame that if it was a horse, I’d have to shoot it.
See, there’s these two cats who morph into human form in order to combat evil forces … in a high school, of course. But there is no back-story explaining why they are Dark Cats, how their power works, or what they were before, etc., nothing to involve you with them. For a short OVA, there are too many characters all of whom get equal air time but no character development. The “plot” (insert hysterical laughter here) is random at best. When the evil takes over a human body it turns them into the worst tentacled beasties ever and I mean worst as in dumb and laughable and in no way scary. The animation was dated and forgettable when the thing was new in 1991.
If you are planning a “bad anime party,” rent this one. Otherwise don’t waste your time on it.
On my scale of one to ten, this one is a one. (1 = Put it in the microwave. The sparks will be more entertaining. )

Stand back! This old Otaku has PMS, a broadsword, a double bladed battle ax, a flail, dagger in her teeth and a pistol in her belt.
