Ghost in the Shell--stand alone complex?

I have noticed while shopping around for manga that there is Ghost In The Shell and GITS Stand Alone Complex.

I love...love, love, love, the series on Adult Swim right now. That's the Stand Alone Complex..Is there much of a difference between the two?

Just curious, and apologies in advance if this has been already posted.

I only watched stand alone complex, and I really enjoy it...but the whole story arch is confusing at 1st.

Bits and pieces are incorporated into the two movies by Mamoru Oshii, as well as the series. However, the anime deters far from the path that Motoko takes in the manga. Yes, I suppose, there is quite a bit of difference. Although those little pieces, if you read the manga, will suggest similarity between the movies and anime.

I didnt like the series but i loved the movies i think theres a game as well

i've never seen the manga for it but i luv the series and the movie is great (saving up for the second one!!!)

i've seen both series, and movies and read two of the manhas, and one of the SAC novels and i thought they were all pretty cool. the movies and second series stick closer top the mangas, but the first series and the first novel share simularities.
