What would you do if you were president of the united states

As the topic states if you were the President, and given the current crisis what policies would you enact in order to fix everything, what social issues would you seek to correct, and if what kind of judges would you look to appoint to the Supreme Court if positions were to open up?

Hm...I guess it isn't surprising that I would be posting in here....But, if I could, I would have just let the financial institutions fail. I would also encourage Congress to lower taxes across the board. I figure people can keep more money in their pockets, or make it go to towards their mortgage payments, and businesses wouldn't have to cut hours. (I'd also work to repeal the 16th Amendment). As for social issues, I wouldn't touch it because social issues are best to be dealt with in Congress. As for nominations to the Supreme Court, I would nominate the former US Solicitor General, Paul D. Clement to the Supreme Court. I like the fact that he spoke out against the USA PATRIOT Act and took Heller's side in DC v. Heller. If there were another opening for the US Supreme Court, I would also like to appoint Justice Marvin Baxter to the Court. Those would be the only two I could think of for that position. I think that both Clement and Baxter would be able to look at the law or Constitution and make reasonable opinions, regardless if I or anyone else, were to like their decisions or not.

I posted with expectation that you would post and if you didn't I would harass you until you did.

Well I'd attack the problem directly. I'd propose a bill that cut interest rates on credit cards. I'd end special interest. I'd try to bring more actions of the government to the people, in terms of voting for policies that would affect them. I'd set up to increase public interest in voting. I'd propose bills to make gay marriage legal as the constitution grants people the freedom to pursue happiness, and under that interpretation I'd assume that that gave them the right to marry who they want since it doesn't hurt anyone, and I'd remove the "One nation under God" line from our salute as there is supposed to be a separation of church and state.

I'd also make it harder for banks to foreclose during times where the economy is strained.
