Initial D
My all time favorite anime. Cars, romance, fast drift racing down mountain passes. The detail and realism of the car and their parts, also the details that go into the driving techniques are amazing. The drifting techniques that the characters use in Initial D are actual racing techniques used by the pros. Here is the back of the DVD 1 of the anime:
Takumi 'Tak' Fujiwara never stood out much- until a yellow RX-7 refused to let him pass on one of his tofu delivery runs down Mount Akina. Little did Takumi know that the driver was one of the hottest street racers around, and when Takumi outmaneuvered the RX-7 in his old '86 Toyota, he set himself up as the new driver to beat. Welcome to INITIAL D, where street racing teams battle for glory, passion, pain and revenge- on the road and off!
And the manga preview:
Takumi Fujiwara spends a lot of time behind the wheel. His tofu delievery job sends him racing down the treacherous roads of Mount Akina, and without even realizing it, Takumi has mastered racing techniques that take most drivers a lifetime to learn. Of course, none of his friends realize this. They're all to busy watching the Akina Speed Stars. the local street racing team. When the legendary Red Suns show up to challenge the Speed Stars, it seems the local boys are doomed to lose the race. But hopes arrives in the form of a mysterious Trueno (Corrola) Eight Six that has been seen racing through the mountain roads. The question is: who is the driver behind this phantom car?
The action really doesn't pick up until the 2'nd book/DVD. I hope what I posted here makes you give Initial D a watch, it's a great anime, and I want to show it to you. ^_^

I also play the game in Time Out or Stop and play. And my brother has the Hot Wheels of the series and the Rx-7 whith the GT-R models.
P.S. the GT-R shows later in the series and the Rx-7 is the last generation(FC)
As you can see i love this show.

Oh this is so awesome to find another Initial D fan! I have DVD's 1-9, and all the mangas to date. Also have several posters, and love to play the arcade game for it. A box set of Initial D all the way from the beginning to the start of Project D! It's in Japanese, and has english subtitles, all in original animation!

So true. A friend of mine bought seson 1 and 2 in japonise but is not in english. Even though he is not japonise. Good thing it has subtitles.
Anyway I like the japanise songs they show on the DVD. If you put the song in the second chapter the words are in japanise. My favorite song is Blazing Beat in volume 9 and 10. in the 9 it only shows it in the last chapter. Plus in the DVD when you put the episodes in japanise it sounds better than the english. Its really cool really.
What version are you playing at the arcade?
Version 1, 2, or 3.

re: Initial D
I've played all three, but they took them out at the arcade when a new version came out, so I'm playing with Version 3. It's the hardest one, but I love it.
I think I have the same thing as your friend, I'm not sure, but I think. Also, the english audio for Initial D is so horrible, I hate how they use all that bad, weird slang. So I listen to it in Japanese audio, and with english subtitles. It's much better that way.
I love all of the Initial D songs, really good. I love rock, and usually hate techno, but this music is awesome. If you want, here is a site where you can download the music: ^_^

Just use search, and look for Initial D. Listen to the song to see if it works, before downloading it.

re: Initial D
Thank for the music download. At the arcade i go it also had the 1, 2, but now is the 3. I think the second one was harder but there were all good. Even if the characters were miwed like KT in Usui whats up with that. Any way the 3 version is way cooler with cool music and new cars with tuneups and new rodes like Tuchisaka, Akina snow, Happogahara and Shomaru. You can get aura if you have more than 10 (i really dont know) battle lever up. A friend of mine is so good and almost everybody challenge him so he got an aura with the color blue. He got better and after a few colors he got a color aura.

I'm not so good at Initial D, I get beaten more then I win. XP And sadly, I once lost my wallet, which had my Initial D card in it! I got so pissed, I had my best card in there, and it took me so long to reach Racer Level 8. I don't think I got a aura on that card, it's been so long ago.
So what's your racer level? What's your favorite course and car? Mine is the Rx-7 that Ryousuke drives, and the hachi-roku.

Wow! You're already there!? I'm still at Akina! My favorite passes are Akina, Akagi and Shomaru. I've played the harder courses, but I suck at them.

Well it's because i go to the arcade almost every saturday night. My mom lets me go there if i get good grades. I also got stuck in Akina at first but thanks to a friend of mine that told me a trick i was able to pass it along with the other courses. Though it took me some time to get were i am.

I found Initial D (all stages) for sale for a very low price. I'm thinking about ordering it. What is it though? I know its about cars, but is it humorous like GTO, or is it action packed?

Its about cars only. Normal cars. It dosent have anything of fantasy. If youre going to order the DVD's there going to talk Japanise. You can use the subtitles though.TurnA wrote:I found Initial D (all stages) for sale for a very low price. I'm thinking about ordering it. What is it though? Buy them now! Seriously, you won't regret it. It's very good, very realistic. It shows several actual driving techniques, and it's about street racing. I have stage 4 on a burned cd that my brother got from the internet. It's about:
Spoiler
Show
Project D, and Takumi is already on it. He's also battling the Toudou Juku, a drifting school.
