A Wind Named Amnesia is a 1990 post-apocalyptic film from studio Madhouse, adapting Hideyuki Kikuchi's 1983 novel. In a single moment, a mysterious wind sweeps across the planet and strips every human being of their memories, their language, and all the knowledge of civilization, leaving the world to collapse into silence and ruin.

Two years later a young man named Wataru, painstakingly re-taught everything he had lost, sets out to walk across a regressed and lawless America. Along the way he is joined by Sophia, an enigmatic woman who still carries the knowledge the wind took from everyone else, and together they witness both the cruelty and the lingering humanity of a civilization that has forgotten itself.
