Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas Set For Spring 2022 Debut Posted Sep 14, 2021

Las Vegas is not the first city that pops into your head when you think of anime, but American film director Zack Synder is attempting to change that fact. Synder is currently producing Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, an anime sequel to the Netflix hit Army of the Dead. It is due to hit our screens in the spring of 2022.
Synder made his feature film debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the 1978 cult horror movie with the same name. He has gone on to direct or produce several comic book and superhero films, including 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Justice League. Synder created the story of Army of the Dead and co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. It became one of the most-watched Netflix originals, with 75 million viewers in its first four weeks. Now, Army of the Dead is getting an anime sequel, and we cannot wait.
Army of the Dead Plot

Army of the Dead is an action-packed zombie heist film that you have to watch even if you only like viewing anime films. It is set in Las Vegas, Nevada, but it is not the “Sin City” you or I know. There is no Las Vegas betting online or casinos or vibrant nightlife because Army of the Dead’s Las Vegas is a barren wasteland full of zombies!
The story follows former Vegas resident and mercenary Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), who is tasked with recovering $200 million from the casino vault owned by Bly Tanaka. The job would be dangerous enough in normal times, but especially so during a zombie infestation.
The American government experimented with extraterrestrial DNA at Area 51, hoping to create a top-secret bioengineered weapon. However, the convoy with the “weapons” is involved in an accident, the zombies break free and quickly destroy everything in their path. The infection soon spreads, and the zombies overrun fabulous Las Vegas.
As the infestation is out of control, the U.S. Government plans a tactical nuclear air strike on Las Vegas to wipe out the walking dead before they can spread and ultimately take over the world. This is where the film’s main character, Scott, comes in. Scott not only has to contend with hordes of zombies, including “Alphas” that are highly intelligent and control the masses of undead, but is doing so against the clock with the airstrike imminent.
Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas Anime Sequel

We will not give away any spoilers about Army of the Dead because you should really watch it yourself, especially if you plan on watching the anime sequel. Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas focuses on the backstory to the live-action movie, answering several questions.
Expect to learn more about the backstory of Scott Ward, the film’s main character, so you get a better idea of who he was before the heist. We fully expect to discover more about Scott’s team in that respect.
Deborah Snyder, Jack’s wife, and co-producer has hinted in interviews that Lost Vegas may deal with the origins of the zombies, including how they managed to overrun Las Vegas and the various efforts of the government to contain the outbreak before resorting to an all-out nuclear attack.
There are some familiar names set to return for the anime series. Dave Bautista voices Scott Ward, and Ella Purnell voices Scott’s daughter, Kate. Others who lend their voices to the anime characters include Ana de la Reguera (voicing Maria Cruz), Tig Notaro (Marianne Peters), and Omari Hardwick (Vanderhoe).
Several other notable actors and actresses are on board for the sequel, too. Listen out for Christian Slater, Vanessa Hudgen, Ross Butler, and Yetide Badaki.
Everything points to Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas being a huge anime hit if Syder can reproduce the excitement of the live-action movie. Spring 2022 cannot come around quick enough.
