Skydance Animation Releases First Trailer for John Lasseter's First Full-Length Animated Film with the Company Posted Jun 30, 2022
Summer means movies, so we’re fortunate to have a new animated film coming our way in the coming months that’s not to be missed! A new teaser trailer has been released for “Luck” by Apple TV+ and Skydance Animation, featuring John Lasseter as the producer of his first animated film with Skydance. Visit this link to watch the trailer!
Synopsis of the Teaser Trailer
As Bob explains how luck is treated in this magical world, the teaser begins with an introduction to Bob, the black cat. Rabbits, pigs, leprechauns, goats, and many other friendly-looking animals run the corporate-themed world. Some employees bring good fortune to us; others bring not-so-good fortune. In the teaser, we see our protagonist's unfortunate relationship with luck and learn about her backstory. In introducing us to this new world, the trailer covers a lot of ground. Black cats are considered very much the opposite of bad luck in Scotland, as Bob will explain in the teaser. In the teaser, we're taken on a short trip through the land of luck. Almost anything related to luck can be found in this land, including winning lottery tickets, four-leaf clovers, broken mirrors, and horseshoes.
On Bob’s tour of the land of luck, it becomes clear that the settlers are, of course, extremely lucky. There is no danger of being hit by speeding cars or falling into holes when they walk through a busy intersection. Then he shows the departments of good and bad luck, which deal with the numerous fortunate and unlucky occurrences we endure in our everyday lives. It seems like the perfect place to live, but at the end of the teaser, the scene is shattered by an unexpected arrival.
As luck would have it, we’re following Sam Greenfield, the unluckiest person on earth. When Sam stumbles upon the Land of Luck one day, it appears to be a big no-no for humans. Rather than take the easy road home, Sam and Bob take a trip to bring some good fortune home to their friends and hopefully turn their own lives around as well.
The Story Behind “Luck”
Peggy Holmes (Secret of the Wings, The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning) directed Luck. The screenplay was written by Kiel Murray (Cars, Raya, and The Last Dragon). Together with John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and David Eisemann who produced the film. John Debney (The Passion of the Christ) composed the soundtrack.
The Land of Luck plays a central role in the new film. Our everyday lives are made up of these lucky and unlucky moments, which are created by animals and creatures behind the scenes. No humans have stepped foot on this land until now, so the system works.
Luck features an exciting cast of characters! Eva Noblezada (Hadestown) will voice Sam Greenfield, and Simon Pegg (Ice Age) will play Bob. The cast also includes Jane Fonda (Grace and Frankie) as The Dragon, Whoopi Goldberg as The Captain, Flula Borg as Jeff the Unicorn, Colin O'Donoghue as Gerry, John Ratzenberger as Rootie, and Delynn Spoon as Sam's friend Hazel.
On Friday, August 5, Apple TV+ will debut the film globally. Streaming will begin that morning at midnight Pacific Time / 3 a.m. Eastern Time.
