According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy-award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg is expected to join the cast of “Luck”, which is a project by Skydance Animation Studios in partnership with Apple and Paramount Studios. “Luck” is an animated feature film set to be released in February 2022.

“Luck” is a story about an unlucky girl who discovers a power greater than luck by joining magical creatures in her adventurous journey. The background story of “Luck” is the battle between the organizations of Good Luck and Bad Luck. The cast of "Luck" already features another Academy award-winning actress, Jane Fonda, who will play her role as the CEO of Good Luck, while Goldberg will play the character of Head of Security for Good Luck.

Goldberg's character is described as vigilant, tough, and loyal in her job of keeping bad luck out of the land of Good Luck. “Luck” is written by Kiel Murray and directed by Peggy Holmes. Goldberg has had an illustrious career, with success as an actor, comedian, television presenter, producer, screenwriter, musician, and entrepreneur.

Along with her Oscar award for her performance in "Ghost", she has won a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy, making her one of the few celebrities to have won all four awards. Born and raised in New York City, Goldberg was given her first breakthrough in Steven Spielberg’s “The Color Purple.”

She has starred in several outstanding movies, including “Boys on the Side”, “Sister Act”, “Sister Act 2”, “The Long Walk Home” and more. She has also been part of animated films including lending her the voice to the role of Shenzi in the iconic Disney classic “The Lion King”. Along with success in movies and TV shows, Goldberg has been active in humanitarian endeavors around the globe and is an author of some non-fiction and children’s books.

The addition of Goldberg to the cast of “Luck” will generate more excitement for the fans who have been waiting for the release of “Luck”. The animated film was expected to release in 2021, but the release date was pushed back to early 2022. “Luck” will be the first project of the multi-year partnership between Skydance Animation and Apple Original Films.

Apple has been looking to acquire quality content for its Apple+ streaming service. Apple has already secured distribution rights to the movie. Along with “Luck”, other projects of the partnership include “Spellbound” and a two-season TV series called “The Search of WondLa”.

The projects with Skydance Animation are part of the growing block of animated content for Apple, which is also set to release another animated programming, including “Wolfwalkers”, “Snoopy in Space” and “Central Park”.
