Description: Chainsaw Man
Discover Anime @ AbsoluteAnime.comKonjiki No Gash Bell!!Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a destitute teenager scraping by in a world where devils, born from human fears, walk freely among mortals. Saddled with crushing debts left by his late father and exploited by ruthless yakuza, Denji has nothing but the clothes on his back and the loyal Pochita, a small dog-like Chainsaw Devil who has bonded with him.
When the yakuza betray Denji and leave him for dead, Pochita fuses with his shattered body, granting him a wish: to live a normal life filled with simple pleasures like buttered toast and a warm bed. Reborn as the human-devil hybrid "Chainsaw Man," Denji can sprout roaring chainsaws from his head and arms, transforming into a creature both horrifying and oddly endearing.
Discovered by the enigmatic Makima, leader of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, Denji is recruited as a state-sanctioned weapon. He's partnered with the deadpan veteran Aki Hayakawa, who hunts to avenge his slain family, and the unhinged Blood Devil Power, a "Fiend" trapped in a human corpse who is equal parts feral, vain, and unexpectedly loyal. Together they form one of the strangest squads in the bureaucracy of devil hunters.
What sets Chainsaw Man apart is its giddy collision of pulp horror, sudden tenderness, and pitch-black comedy. One scene plays as visceral body horror; the next finds Denji obsessing over whether a girl will hold his hand. Director Ryū Nakayama and studio MAPPA lavish the show with cinematic framing, hand-drawn detail, and a now-iconic rotating ending sequence that uses a different artist and song every episode.
Based on Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga, which has become one of the defining shonen titles of its generation, the anime adaptation premiered in late 2022 and quickly became a flashpoint of discussion online for its tonal whiplash, its complex female characters, and its willingness to follow a protagonist whose deepest ambition is, by his own admission, just to feel something. A theatrical sequel, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, continues the story in 2024.
