Click on "Edit your Profile", and a screen should come up with this to the left of it:

You get the URL of the avatar you wish to use, (may be no larger than 100 pixels by 100 pixels) and put it into the address bar. Then you click okay which is at the bottom of the page, and you're good to go.

What Haruhi said and you can use a avatar from the gallery or you own custom just copy the link of the 100 X 100 avatar and click done.

I think it has to be a JPG or GIF file only, am I correct?
Decisions to decisions are made and not bought, but I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot. I guess not.

The avatar question is so frequent I thought of making like, a FAQ thread. Then I remember we have a FAQ section on this site. Unfortunately this doesn't go into details on how to actually get an avatar but rather just explains what one is. Someone who's good at explaining things, has some time on there hands and likes to help out should make a stickied thread with the answer to this common question. I'd do it myself, but I'm a fat b*stard and don't care about anyone. Sorry.
