error and question about changing usernames

Hey, I was changing my username and I all of a sudden, after clicking submit, I got an error that said something about MSQL and the name Sports-Chang but I didn't understand it real well. I'd show you a screenshot but it's probably too late now.

Also, how many times will you be able to change your username. Mabey it told me that I changed my username alot and now I may no longer change it.

You can change your username an unlimited number of times, but I am not sure if there is a restriction between times of the change.

I have not seen this error before. Maybe Special characters like in my name that were not recognized?

You have to wait 7 days after changing your user name before you can change it again [edited by Jen.. we don't need people knowing that.] The 'error' was probably just a pop up telling you this.

I know I have to wait for 7 days. But the message I got didn't say that. It said something about changing my name to Sports-Chang and an automated message that didn't successfully go to the name-changed thread in the inftroduction forums and MSQL.

I haven't been able to figure out why that error shows up sometimes, and since we'll be switching to phpBB3 soon it's not worth spending time trying to figure it out.

Right now I have no limit. When we switch to phpBB3, I think I'm going to disable name changes.

A few users might make multiple accounts, but I don't think most people would care enough to do so.

Find out --> ban --> username gone (maybe if ken makes a special name change day for everyone once a year or so the users would be screwed because their potential name would not be available anymore)

changing names is lame. Best thing that ever happened was when i learned how to cheat the system and Ken restricted me from changing my name at all. It's annoying to not know who your talking to. And some people get pissed when they change their name and you no longer know who they are. there should be some kinda warning when your making the account that you can't change your name in it. Or they should have to bring it up with you if they want to change their name. This will give users the freedom to change their name if it somehow sucks. But no one will want to bug the webmaster 3 times a day just to change their name...or better yet. give that ability to mods also. So Ken doesn't have 20 PM's a day asking for a name change.

I don't agree. I think that how Ken explained to Dante Kei is that for one to change their username he was either going to charge $1.00 or just disable it completely....

I wanted to change my username back to Aiden. But i suppose i could never do that unless i wanted to pay 1 measly dollar or just create a whole 'nother account...i don't want to do that though because then people will know and ban me and this account and i don't want that to happen.

Maybe we could have just a permission for a username change. I'm shure that Ken could do that but then you wouldn't know if your username had been changed and therefore wouldn't be able to get into your account.....

I believe that we should just go back to the other way and have an unlimited number of username changes. I know that would make a lot of weary AA members want to stay here instead of browsing the internet for a whole 'nother Anime Forum/creating they're own.

A few people I know are leaving AA (who have been good and not disobeying the system) just because they can't change they're username.

They knew that Ken might possibly quit doing the name changes in advance and if they are going to leave over something as pointless as that? Then fine just walk out..... There going to have to search pretty hard to find another site that lets them name-whore...
