I think Itachi started out as good... i kind of agree with the original theory. But the fact still remains, the only reason Itachi didnt kill Sasuke is because he still loves him. after all, he IS his little brother. and as a side note, i think those lines are uber cute, its makes so that he doesnt look so much like Sasuke. ^.^

Yea. My theory is that he loves him, but he wants to have a challenge. He killed his best friend. I think he also felt guilty for killing his whole family. He could have chosen anybody else there, but he chose his own little brother. I love his lines. =^.^=

No there are no good intentions from him, he simply wants power and is ready to do anything for it, he didn't kill Sasuke simply because he is/was weaker than him.

Itachi IS good! o.o Read Chapter 397 of Naruto, and Tobi tells Sasuke that quite clearly. Most likely in chapter 398 they will reveal more about why Itachi is actually a good guy after all! ^^

Maybe that's the reason why he wanted Sasuke to be strong at the start of the series. Too bad he taught him to be strong with rage and hatred.
