A Mysterious anime from the 80s

Post by bauninit »

Hi, sorry to bother you guys with this lil question of mine. i've searched everywhere but to avail.

well, straight to the point

between 1982-1988 (i cant really remember) when i was 5 or 8 ( cant really remember too)
i watched a car racing anime. now i cant recall its title at all.

here's the only thing i can say for sure

1) its not speed racer since speed racer looks way too outdated (ok for this one maybe not 100%,
say 99%)

2) the dude in the anime is named something hayabusa

3) in one of the episode, (this i remember till this day because its so dramatically cool :o )
-this hayabusa dude was driving the car with a new engine technology fresh out from the oven.
then when rpm wass close to red line, the engine start vibrating violently.

he was afraid to floor it for obvious reasons. but if he didn't, the race is a goner for him.
long story short, he stepped on it, engine vibrate even wilder.

but when the rpm needle maxed out, the engine stopped vibrating. instead, the car accelerate
like a 1K Hp supra. also, the exhaust flame turned green (kinda ironic)

4) in another episode, i remember he drove the car sideway up (right tires on the ground, left ones hanging in the air 45 degrees angle,) along very narrow, then wide, then very narrow mountain road IN REVERSE!!!. i just can never forget this =P~

5) and also, theres a professor that always come up with new engine innovation/technology

well thats about it all i can recall. i would really appreciate it if anyone can lead me to the right anime. this been bugging me for so long. i would even paypal $5 to whoever figure this puzzle out first!.

/cheers

It sounds similar to Machine Hayabusa, though I've never seen that show personally so I couldn't say for sure.

Wow, you wanna donate?! It's always appreciated but it rarely happens. Well if so, I actually have a Paypal donation link on my phpBB3 MODs page: http://www.absoluteanime.com/admin/mods.htm

I don't know anywhere to download it. I very rarely download anime myself. I know I've seen DVDs available, but I believe they were always from Japanese sites, so I don't know if any with English subtitles have been released.
