Evangelion anyone?
Let's get an EVA thread started!

*yay* Should be obvious for whom I voted.
She is sexy, smart, funny, lethal and owns a penguin.
If this thread should turn into THE EVA Thread than let's go on with an important question - what do you think about the real-live-action-movie project?
I'm neither against it nor do I have high hopes for it. I just can't imagine actors taking over this well-known roles amidst lots and lots of CGI effects (Angels and EVAS).

Why is that stupid? Many people still consider anime being for children, so a great lot doesn't wanna give it a try. Transponding anime into live action CAN bring viewers to consider the stories. And I think there is a difference between having a live action show like Power Rangers or making a Hollywood Blockbuster out of it. It's an interesting way of blending between cultures. Anime and live action work different and in this respect the project is interesting. But I don't think that Evangelion was the best choice. It's a major fan favorite, it will bring money, but overall it's too complex to be packed in even a three hour movie. I'm afraid many characters will have to suffer as well as the religious symbolism. Still this is another way to keep good material alive. Aside from the ignorant masses there are a few people who just don't like to watch animated characters but know they are missing something and those will get the chance to still participate.
From what I heard, Gainex will be working closly with ADV Films so that they don't get too far from the storyline, so I think it might turn out okay.Misato wrote:*yay* Should be obvious for whom I voted. She is sexy, smart, funny, lethal and owns a penguin.

Don't forget about the artistic license, though. That has ruined many a movie. They'll try to keep it true, but you know that some major detail will have to be changed to have the movie fit in the time alotted. The die-hard EVA fans will know, and naturally be upset by it, but to the people who know nothing about EVA will enjoy the movie very much.
All I'm saying is that Artistic license is a tricky mistress.
