If Jaken is killed, Sesshomaru won't have anyone to look after Rin when he ventures off. Not to mention that Rin most likely wouldn't appreciate Jaken-sama, whom she seems to care about, being killed. Also, who is Sesshomaru going to step on or kick when he's annoyed (note that he is annoyed with Jaken himself, and without the toad demon, we wouldn't be able to view these comical actions)?
