yeah. an avatar is the picture next to your username. pm's are private messages, sort of like email, that you send to other folks. if you get one it will anounce you. but the difference from email is, you can only check the pm's in this site

I mean that some people have emails on there profiles is that like their own email that they use everyday or is it like something that is on here the forms?
