re: Full Moon wo Sagashite
The main character is a 12 year old girl named Mitsuki. She dreams of becoming a singer, but two things stand in her way. She lives with her grandmother, who hates singing, and she has throat cancer. If she gets surgery, she'll lose her voice and won't be able to sing. In the beginning of the story, she is singing a love song for Eichi, her love who moved to America two years ago. They made a promise that the next time they see each other, they'll be closer to their dreams, Eichi as an astronomer and Mitsuki as a singer. One day, two shinigami, Takuto and Meroko, come through the wall of her room. They are surprsed that Mitsuki can see them, since only dead people can see shinigami. They tell her that she only has 1 more year to live, but that only makes her more determined to become a singer. She manages to escape from her room using the portal in the wall that the shinigami made and runs away to an audition she signed up for. Takuto and Meroko manage to catch her before she enters the audition. She begs of them to let her audition, and they agree(or at least Takuto did). Mitsuki also askes them to transform her into a 16 yr old, since the minimum age allowance is 15. Takuto lets Mitsuki drink a drop of his blood, and she transforms. She enters the audition and sings beautifully. so well that the judges cancel the audition and declare her the winner. So now, Mitsuki lives a double life, as a girl with cancer and a famous singer. This series has a great plot, fun characters, and amazing art. It's definetely Arina Tanemura's best work.
