What I think about... Last Exile

Hello Anime fans!

From now on, i'll be posting my opinion/review on the anime series/movies i have seen. I'll always try not to spoil anything for those who haven't seen the series/movies yet.
All the posts will be called "What i Think about... [Name of the Anime]", so they can be easily identified, and you know what the content is.

I'll be starting with Last Exile, wich is the lastest anime I saw.

I'll say it is worth viewing all the 26 episodes.

The first thing I noticed is the animation style.
Digital objects (ships, some landscapes, particle effects [such as smoke], light) with drawn characters gives a very interesting visual mix. A real treat.
On some scenes (but not many, maybe 3 or 4 in the entire series) I got the feeling that something was off with the digital objects phisics, but with all that was happening on screen, it became just that: a feeling, that I forgot in about 2 seconds.

Next, the story.
It is indeed original, I've never seen this kind of plot before. It has just enough twists to get me hooked, so I ended up watching 5 and 6 episodes in a row, always wanting what was the next move.
Almost all of the series happens in the skyes, kind of like the First World War on wings.

The characters are just right for the story, with enough mystery in their lives to keep you interested and coming back for more:
Claus Valca and Lavie Head, the pilot and navigator of a Vanship, once owned by their parents, who have the dream of flying togheter through the Grand Stream;
Alex Rou, the Commander of the Silvanna, who has a grudge against Maestro Delphine for something that happened a long time ago;
his Second-In-Command Sophie, with more than meets the eye;
Dio Eleclair, a strange boy from Guild, the party that control the world;
Moran Shetland, an infantry soldier who is simply trying to survive pursuing a dream...
And many others, all with a reason to live and fight. I'm sure you'll identify with one of them, at least.

The soundtrack is very good, and completes the viewing experience, sometimes giving a very wide sense of space, and other times aiding to the dramatic effect of great battles in the sky.

I have to say it is kind of weird to have such sophisticated equipment (missiles, armour piercing shells, etc.), and still communicate through sound tubes like our old boats. But it is a different world, completely apart from ours, as it is intended to be.

Finishing off, my advice is to see it. From my point of view, i'm sure it will please at least 90% of the viewers. Transposing this to a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 9. (by the way, I don't give out 10, unless it is just perfect... haven't seen any that i think is perfect, doesn't matter how much I like it).

Did you like the series?
Is my review right or wrong, acording to your point of view?

I would like to talk about this with someone besides Dark Lilly, wich looks like she's the only one who likes anime for real, and expresses it in every post...

Not those guys/girls who think that "i like [insert anime title here] because the main character is sooooo cool!" or because "he/she is so hot!" or "he/she can kick [the main character of other anime series]' a$$ anytime"...
Because if you think like this, you're obcessed with the character, instead of liking an anime for all that it is.

I would like some objective opinions, for a change...

I haven't seen this anime yet but I hear from my brother that it's a very good series. It's on my "To Watch" list but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
