i'm not sure if anyone has covered this yet, but to those who are SaiYuki fans;
in reloaded, they changed all of the english voice actors to a point where i can't even watch the anime! i was in tears when i heard what they did to the guys! it's horrid! does anyone know if they will be moving back to the others or are they keeping these horrid newbies? i mean, on their own they are okay; but they changed so much from the others that it hurts! do you agree?

re: SaiYuki
i absolutely, completely could not agree with you more.
I watched this show with my 2 sisters and brother in law. we couldnt get enough of the show. we're also big on watching shows in japanese w/ subtitles, though this is one of the few we watch in english, because the voice actors have so well got american sense of humor, personality, sarcasm, etc. down perfectly. After 2 seasons of loving this show....
the bombshell. almost all of the VA's were changed, and those that were changed either spend their time trying to match the old VA's voices, or try to interpret the characters in their own way, which doesnt work at all because we've already known the characters for two seasons. And since we've already watched in english this long, watching in japanese would have a similar effect. We were crushed. We tolerated 2 episodes of season 3 before we just couldn't deal with it anymore.
I'm sure we'll pick it up later on once we can learn to love the japanese voices, but man, I'm in the exact same boat you are T.T
though, if things dont turn our way soon, we can always stampede the production office, and show them our little friends "mr. washington" and "ms. sacajawea" to convince them to switch back ^^.

LOL. i agre. i couldn't get past the first disk of Reloaded. damn. and what makes me angry is that it's the same company that does Samuri Champloo; i love that company. when i saw it, i was all excited then when i heard the voices, i was like "no, that's not them....wait...". it's bad enough that they all decided to repronounce how to say each other's names. Like Kougaiji. from Sanzo, it now sounds like Kouga-jiji. that's just not cool! GRR. i agree, we storm the offices and demand for the awesome guys back!

re: SaiYuki
I actually liked the new ones... Im not a big fan of dubbs in general.. except for things like Hellsing where they just turned out better in the dubbed version.. which is really rare.. but the vas from Gensomaden seemed mono tone to me... and Greg Ayres.. how ever much of an experienced va he is.. didnt suit Goku (Hes also the only one out of the old cast that has a major contract since he started working with Funimation...that I know of anyways..) o.o; Anyways.. I wouldnt call Lex Lang (plays Sanzo in Reload) and the guy who plays Gojyo.. who also plays Lupin in Lupin the Third (forget his name..) newbies since I believe that Lex Langs had atleast 50 some characters like Sanosuke(Kenshin) and Cain(Nightwalker..).. They were a nice change and I felt that they kinda suited them better since they actually had some emotion in their voices... but to each their own, no? I stick with the subbed version anyways..and the manga even more.. o.o;
Also... I believe they changed the voice actors because If you look at the case for Gensomaden Saiyuki (Ive got the Double Barrel collections.. so I dont know if its that same as the others..) its produced by Viz.. and if you look at Reload.. its produced by Geneon... So unless Gunlock and the other are gonna go back to Viz theres little to no chance that the voices'll go back...o.o;

i know. like i said, when i noticed they changed the production group, it was like a pitfall in my stomach. you're right, they won't go back. it's not that i think the others are newbies (the new voice overs) but i think that some got so used to the other voices, that with such a drastic change came shell shock. yeah, the characters were a littel stiff in the first one but gods, i loved their voices. sanzo reminded me of Sesshoumaru, but more...well...just more.
anyway, i guess there is no use griping about it. :-/
