Escaflowne isn't a robot. It is considered Dragon Armor in the series. Though it depends on which Gundam it's taking on....Hawke123 wrote:Dragon X wrote:I'm definatlly saying esvlaflowme on this one.

Gundams would own the escaflowne robot. *coughbeamweaponscough*

Wow. Another one sided poll. There cannot be a discussion on this, simply because there is no contest.
There is no way that the Escaflownes can beat a mobile suit, from any of the various Gundam universes.
Firstly, the issue of size. An Escaflowne unit is typically about 5-6 meters high (As I estimate from the anime) While a typical mobile suit can range from 10 meters up to 50 meters in height, though the average height would be around 18-20 meters. In terms of weight, I have no idea how heavy an Escaflowne unit weighs, but a Mobile suit's weight ranges from 8 tons up to 90 tons, with the norm around 50 tons. In hand to hand combat, a mobile suit would be able to pick up an Escaflowne unit with a single hand, and be able to thrash it without even straining the actuators, wheras an Escaflowne unit would be hardpressed to even move a mobile suit.
Next is armoring. Because of all the various universes and different physics, this will be broken down into different sections.
A mobile suit in the Universal Century era generally has one of the following materials as armor, a standard metals (Steel, Titanium, Composite metals, etc...), Luna Titanium (otherwise known as Gundarium Alpha), and Gundarium Gamma. The standard metal armors are nothing different from the metals in our own era, sufficient to stop low velocity bullets, but unable to protect against high velocity rounds and particle weaponry. Luna Titanium on the other hand is an incredibly dense material, capable of stopping just about any solid weapon (such as swords and bullets), though vulnerable against particle weapons such as beam rifles. Gundarium Gamma is practically the same as Luna Titanium, save for the fact that it is a much lighter alloy.
A mobile suit in the Cosmic Era universe can be armored with Phase shift armor, Transphase armor, as well as typical metal armors. Both Phase shift and Transphase armor nullify all physical damage, at the cost of enormous power drains.
In the After Colony universe, the armors used are standard metals, and Gundarium. This Gundarium alloy is much more potent than the ones in the Universal Century era, as this Gundarium alloy is practically invulnerable to everything, from shell fired weapons, to particle weapons.
Now in comparison, what are Escaflowne mechs armored with? Well, since the time frame is in the past, I would imagine that they are armored with inferior metals such as iron or copper. Steel is a possibility, but I doubt it.
Now is the comparison of the cockpits, a vital component of the machines, as the larger the range of vision, the faster the target aquisition, and the higher the chance of survival.
Mobile Suits are equipped with either 3 screen displays, or 360 degree panoramic moniters. The three screen display shows approximately what is in front of the suit, and what is to the left and right of the suit, using three screens. The panoramic monitors allow an even greater field of view, as the cockpit is a gigantic ball of monitors, showing everything around the mobile suit at once, giving an amazing field of view.
On the otherhand, Escaflowne units have helmetlike cockpits, with a highly limited viewpoint, easily vulnerable to attack from the sides and the rear.
In terms of speed, all Mobile suits are equipped with rocket engines, which allow for boost assisted jumps. Even the most primitive of mobile Suits can run at more than 100 mph. Some mobile suits (like the Dom for instance) are equipped with hoverjets, allowing for speeds upwards of 200 miles per hour. More advanced mobile suits are also equipped with Flight packs or subflight systems, such as the Aile Pack or Dodai Kai. Even more advanced suits are equipped with transformation systems that allow transformation into a more aerodynamic shape, and others are equipped with miniature Minkovsky Drives, which allows for unrestricted Flight.
Now in comparison, the propulsion of Escaflowne mechs are only using legs for movement.
As for weapons. Mobile suits are armed with a myriad of different modern weapons, including heavy particle weaponry, bazookas, machine guns, shotguns, beam sabers, shields, missile launchers, and grenades. The beam sabre alone is more than capable of cutting through any known metal. Other weapons include the Doomsday devices known as the Moonlight Butterfly (a swarm of nanomachines that destroy objects at a molecular level) and Sattelite Cannons (A heavy microwave powered cannon that takes power transmitted from a relay station on the moon, capable of wiping out armadas). Also important are the Bit weapons, and Fin Funnels. They are mind controlled weapons mediated by a psycommu unit within the mobile suit. They can act as remote wingmen to the mobile suits, offensive attack weapons, or defensive shields as these funnels and bits are equipped with beam weapons, and (in some cases) are also equipped with beam shields. And lets not forget the other defensive tools, the beam shield and the I field. The I field is a tool that generates a defensive barrier that can stop particle weapons, and the beam shield is a shield made of the same Minkovsky particles that make up a beam sabre.
On the otherhand, Escaflowne units are armed with medieval weapons, such as swords, spears, etc.
So there you have it. In terms of armor, propulsion, size, armament and cockpit visibility, mobile suits far outshine the Escaflowne units in a direct comparision.

Well it looks like this debate is over lol.
Excellent points Zengar Zonbolt.
You took the words right outta my mouth. I was just too lazy to list all the reasons that Gundams or mobile suits would easily beat Escaflowne.

I'm going to agree with Zengar on this one.
Mainly because of the weapon ranges of modern weapon is a huge advantage that just can't be ignored. Not to mention the variety of weapons available to mobile suits. And then there's the sensor packages on the mobile suits, try and hide a large metal machine from thermal imagers.

With what? Phase Shift armor from Gundam Seed is immune to projectile weapons and can only be damaged by beam weapons. Gundanium from Gundam Wing is VERY strong armor as well.

Do you really c'mon be realistic the gundams maybe strong but thier not unbreakable.I know how strong the mobile suits are the only Gundams that can compete with esclaflowme are wing zero and burning gundam.
