What anime shows do you think are underrated and deserve more respect than they're getting?

Naruto is definitely not underrated. It has been licensed, broadcasted, given several videogames, and has a wide following from both internet anime fans and TV mainstreamers, all over the world. Asides from its popularity in Japan and the United States, it is very popular in China, Korea and the Philippines. Because of all this exposure, I cannot see how Naruto can be considered underrated. A show like Ideon on the other hand has never been licensed in the United States, broadcasted, or brought to the mainstream in any way, despite its magnificence. I can count the number of Ideon fans I know of on one hand, despite the fact that it was once named one of Japan's most influential mech animes, and also influenced Hideaki Anno to create Neon Genesis Evangelion, taking many elements from Ideon and directly incorporating it into his own show. Ideon is definitely an underrated anime.

Elfen Lied. i dont see many threads about it here, but it kicks a profound amount of ass. i also think some OAV's dont get enough attention. like Orguss 2.

Urusei Yatsura is underrated considering it's Rumiko Takahashi's first and best loved work in Japan and some areas of the rest of the world. For some reason it's fandom never caught on in the US like her later works have. Works that borrows from UY in the first place, there will always be a pervert, an obsessive girl, and a competing love interest in her stories.

Legend of Galactic Heroes is also a very heavily underrated series. So much so it seems very few have even heard of it. The opinion is because it's not spoken of it doesn't have a fan base large enough to make bringing it over and licensing it worth the costs.
