The description Ame-chan has kindly provided us with is partially true, but more related to avoidancy, this being discomfort with others and inability to form relationships. However, avoidants often desire the ability to be socially accepted or 'popular' but their anxiety in social situations prevent them from achieving this status, this being the fundamental difference between a subject who is avoidant and a subject who is schizoid. Schizoids may be capable of, and even comfortable with, social interaction, but they simply do not yearn for the company of others and prefer to be alone. They are very often described as aloof and distant and can be unresponsive to praise or criticism.

The disorder is more common among males and sufferers will often not seek treatment on their own free will as they have no desire to change. It is for this reason that schizoid personality disorder is usually more difficult to treat than avoidancy.

i just got back home from my hometown. my dad just got out of surgery. And i have a broken arm but why am i happy. i don't get it.
