Well, I love all anime in general. However, if I were to chose one anime that stood out above all the rest and kind of set the standard, I would choose none other than...

Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Why? You could look at NGE and call it another "mech anime." Yet when you watched it, it became so much more. The battles of mechs versus otherworldy entities were simply the medium to tell a story of the difficulty of youth, betrayal, deception, all the rest. The story was deeper and more philosophical than anything else I've ever watched.

I once forced a friend to watched this anime. He didn't really have a keen interest in anime in general, but as we watched Disc 1, episode 1, and kept watching, I quickly realized that we had eventually see the entire series in a day. He had become so interested as the story went from deceptively simple to complex and deep. It dealt with various issues of the creation of the world and all the rest. The characters are memorable and complex.

Now then, I don't know if NGE is my favorite of all time. It's certainly a personal fave, but Rurouni Kenshin is another excellent anime. It's excellent use of history combined with masterful story telling and memorable characters result in another amazing anime.

Yeah, I think I'd say Evangelion and Rurouni Kenshin are two of best animes released.

I promise, this is the last name change. And don't you dare take one of my old names. I'll write you down if you do.

Ah man, I totally forgot about Eva (Yeah, how can someone forget about eva?). I really need to watch this again. It was just amazing. The only thing that bothered me was the last episode where Shinji's annoyingness climaxed to the point I just plainly didn't watch it. He asked some of the most stupid things, and perhaps it was just my small attention span or lack of understanding, but none of the stuff he said made any sense at all. Other than that, the series dominated.
"Yeah, that's right. Turd Ferguson. It's a funny name."
