Please Help me learn japanese

Knowing the base word is fine, yes, but I believe knowing the tenses and how to use them properly is more important =\

like

oishii = delicious
oishikatta = was delicious
oishikunai = Not delicious
oishikunakatta = was not delicious

There's no future tense in japanese though. Present and future tense are shared I believe.

I would think so. If you plan on doing something in the near future, you'd use "will" as in "I will do [something]".

Holy sugar dudes, that's a long time to go...then again, it is a degree we're talking about here.

I'm planning on extending my studies in college and maybe take up a translating job at the airport for tourists, but that might not be possible from what I can figure out at the moment. A bit early to say the least.

I self-teach japanese....I use some words..not all...but I mainly learn from song lyrics and anime subtitles! Go translations!

i can speak portuguese, english, spanish, french and want to learn japanese!

English is my native language of course, ho ho ho. I started teaching myself Japanese many years ago... eight? No, nine? Anyway, it probably really didn't count until I got into high school and started putting my butt in gear, so it's more like six years. My school never offered classes in it, and community colleges kept cancelling theirs. So there's been pros and cons to doing it all myself, but in the end, I enjoyed the route I took and think I came out okay.

I also took six years of Spanish throughout middle school and high school. They were AP credits in high school, too, but since I ended up going to an art college, they really didn't come in handy. And because I don't practice Spanish, I've forgotten most of it.

I also started teaching myself Mandarin Chinese a couple years back, but I didn't keep up with it because of the workload involved in animation (and my preference to translate Japanese stuff XD), so I remember next to nothing.

I wish I could do a double major and get some kind of degree in language, because at this point, I'm totally ready to pick up a job as a translator on the side. But as it turns out, you need a degree for that. Which is kind of pointless, I say. Just test me to see if know the language, and then hire me! Geez! They make such good money. But I don't have the cash or time to do it, so perhaps someday in the future. For now, an animator I be!
