In Anime I will give it to Mugen. Kenshin is a boring character to me, and Mugen has a great backstory, and his fighting style is cool and original.

In classical Japanese literature and movies, I'd have to give it to Miyamoto Musashi, as he was an amazing philosopher as well as Kensei (sword saint). I have read The Book of Five Rings by him and it s quite interesting how he explains the way of the Samurai.
