why not?he's the hero of the show,he's proved that he is the strongest on the show repeatedly,he never gives up,he can be funny at times and he can go to all levels of super saiyan by himself without any special things to help him with it.

Personaly, I don't find him that funny and secondly he isn't serious at times when he needs to be.

and Kid Buu,he didn't seem to be very serious when fighting in DBGT though...sometimes,it just seemed like he didn't care too much...

I don't neccesarily dislike him but there things about him that annoy me. Vegeta fills in Goku's missing qualities as a character.

he kinda laughed when he thought it was all hopeless when fighting Super 17 and Omega Shenron he was serious when he was almost destroyed by Baby,but thats about it.
