The remake of Final Fantasy VII

no, there were insanely rendered pictures of sephiroth and cloud and an article. it was FFVII.

no, it's not a sequel to VII, it's the original with awesome graphics. i don't know if they're altering the story though. white_wolf_lover, i believe i said that i found this information on the square enix site like 3 posts before yours.

Okay, they are not doing a FFVII remake, to set things right.

Though Square-Enix is working on the Final Fantasy VII Compilations. This includes follwing titles, no matter if they were just announed or are already out in Japan:

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It is a CG-rendered movie which is set two years after Jenova and Sephiroth have been defeated. At first it was mistaken for a remake of the game for the flashbacks, i.e. Sephiroth walking through the flames or Aerith being lowered into the water. But as more information popped up on the net, it was quite clear that it was not a remake but a movie which will come out on DVD and on UMD. Right now they are discussing to show it in theaters as well.

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. It is supposedly an Action RPG with Vincent as the main character. Not many things have been revealed about it, except that it will be released for PS2 and is set 4 years after Advent Children.

Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII. A game for cell-phones it is only released in Japan and there the first 8 chapters have been released up to now. It is not very likely that it will come out in the USA. It is set 6 years before the game (if I'm not mistaken. I write down every information here from scratch )

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The title that had been announced only recently. It is only known that it is set between Before Crisis and the original game, Final Fantasy VII.
When does SE put an End to this?

So, now a short timeline:

1. BC => 6 yrs befor FFVII
2. CC => unknown but between BC and FFVII
3. FFVII
4. AC => 2 yrs after FFVII
5. DC => 4 yrs after AC and thus 6 yrs after FFVII

I hope I have convinced you that there won't be a remake of the game. The producers have also announced that they won't even consider this action as long as the game is still playable with the current version of the PS. Since Sony has stated that the PS3 will be designed to be compatible with older games, it is unlikely to see a remake of this game before approx. 2010...

just figured I should point out that Crisis Core is for the PSP is an action rpg and is due out in 2006

and Dirge of Cerebus takes place only 3 years after FFVII as stated by IGN

Oh big bummer. I am a die hard fan of ffVII.Its my favorite game of all time. That would of been great if they made a remake, but I guess advent children will satisfy me.

remakes arn't necessarily a good thing, because they can change the storyline, IF they ever decided to remake FFVII, all I wanna see them do with it is up date the graphics to the most recent standards of that time, and maybe add something to do with the game after you beat it, or add in a few more weapons (by weapons I mean Emerald, Ruby and Ultima, I can't remember if Omega was in FFVI, been forever since I played it all the way through) so that it has a few more perks than being the same game with better graphics

Another soul tormented by the lies of a remake. yeah DC is three years not four. Too bad i cant get 2 of the completion of crisis. Stupid japanese having the cell and no way im paying that much for a psp.

but i think Advent Children prolly is overloaded with far to many special effects....in the trailer u can see tifa walkink on walls and Cloud flying up in the air with his MC ...well...guess well have to wait and c...
