does god really exist?
re: does god really exist?
Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....
I felt like a race horse in a world without racetracks or a champion college footballer suddenly confronted by Wall Street and a business suit, his days of glory shrunk to a little gold cup on his mantel with a date engraved on it like a tombstone.

Sorry. Getting all metaphysical here....
I need to watch things die, from a distance.
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies.
You all need it too, don't lie.

god felt really bad for doing that, so he made a promise to never do it again.Symos wrote:Doen't kill people huh? What about that 40 day, 40 night flood?

How come we're not open enough? It's all God's fault I say. He's so useless, he cant do anything right.Red wrote:oh man. the level of ignorance you guys live in is amazing. God is not evil, he doesn't kill anyone. without God you wouldn't even be living. If you still need so much "proof" of his existance, shows how weak minded you all are, compared to how u label religion.
People can correct your wrong beliefs, all your life. Give you proof all your life, but you are all gonne be stubborn, and just "shove" it off as some other entity.
Trust me, you have seen God, but you are just not open enough to the things around you. Always blaming people, always blaming God who loves you, for everything you did to yourself, or everything you could not do. Stop bending your conscience to accept the facts you made up. In truth all of us want to have a deeper understanding of the universe, and God. Its all in us. Thats why you guys are so resentful to the question of does God exist, you guys have been there. Disappointed perhaps.

Yeah, that's why I believe that some parts of the Bible are speaking figuratively. If God felt bad, that means he made a mistake. And God wouldn't make a mistake. Duh. Many disasters in the Old Testament are attributed to God, and then Jesus came and shook his finger saying "No, no, God isn't petty and spiteful like that. This is how it goes..."Atomosk wrote:god felt really bad for doing that, so he made a promise to never do it again.Symos wrote:Doen't kill people huh? What about that 40 day, 40 night flood?

i don't think it was so much a mistake as it was an overly severe punishment.GravyTrain wrote:Yeah, that's why I believe that some parts of the Bible are speaking figuratively. To Red: Hey brother, let’s exercise great patient here. I’m not here to win an argument; I’m here to present Christ. Jesus gives everybody a choice to believe, so I believe we should also give them a chance to choose even if they choose to reject.
To Symos:
God also says that whoever seeks Him will find Him. God is found by those who are willing to make an effort to find Him. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that God exist. You just need faith, and God will do the rest. In fact God also said that for those who think that they are wise, clever or smart are those who are most likely not to find Him; for God dislikes people who are proud. Proud people are those who don’t want to admit that they are wrong; they are those who don’t want to admit that they have yet to come to their full understanding on the matter. So should we pursue education? Yes, of course we should, but in pursuing knowledge, we must also have a humble attitude saying, “Although I’ve learn much, yet there are still so many things I’ve yet to know.”
In fact the Bible says that all of creation proclaim God’s glory, and tell of His goodness. Consider the breaking of the dawn, the chirping of the birds, the fallen leaves in autumn and the showering of snows in winter. These are God’s ways of showing that He exists. Not to forget, our conscience constantly tugging our hearts to believe in His existence. God also gives us His Church to let Mankind learn of His ways, and Science to discover the mysteries of His creation. As if that’s not enough, Gods send His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the Cross. The crucifixion of Jesus is not just a bible account, there are various Greek historians who have wrote of the event happening.

I’m afraid your understanding is incorrect. I would like to remind you that many evolutionists believe that they are made from nothing, by nothing, for nothing. Evolution theory states that all of life is an accident. If we are all by chance, an accident, what purpose is there? The reason why you feel that you’ve purpose is the strongest evidence that you are not cause by evolution.
Bertrand Russell painted a rather bleak picture of evolution and I‘m afraid his right.
“That man is the product of causes which had no prevision of the end they were achieving; that his origin, his growth, his hopes and fears, his loves and beliefs are but the outcome of accidental collocations of atoms; that no fire, no heroism, no intensity of thought and feeling, can preserve an individual life…”
Evolution says that we are evolving from amino acids. Okay, if that’s the case what or who creates the acid? Evolution can’t explain this. You can’t just say that it happens that the acids just appear.
The only way to know our purpose is to start with something or somebody who is perfect and whom time has no effect on. As I search I come to the conclusion that only God fits that criterion. God is perfect; in fact God is our Source, for He richly provides us with all things to enjoy. You cannot find purpose starting from an imperfect thing, it’s just ridiculous. So I can say that we are made from God, for God, by God. If you start finding your purpose in God everything else fits in.
We are indeed made for God. The Bible says that God created us to enjoy Him. Nothing in this world can satisfy our soul more than God. Not pornography, nor drinking, nor gambling, nor fame, nor nice, sexy clothes. It’s difficult to understand this until you have received the Holy Spirit, which Jesus promises to give to those who will believe in Him.

To Symos:
There were times I ponder over this question too. However, I believe I’ve come to a conclusion. Allow me to try to explain as clearly as I can. God said in the Bible that He treasures our faith more than anything else. In other words, faith in God is more important to Him than anything else that we can ever present to Him. If we can see Him, then there’s no need for faith. God wants to know if we are really serious about Him. Before anyone of you, reject this answer as being silly, I would like to explain my answer with an illustration. How would anyone of you choose your best friends? How would you recognize anyone as your buddy? I believe that if someone is willing to go through with you thick and thin, through trials and difficulties. If you are in trouble and someone is not willing to leave you in lurch, but will show you the care and concern you need. This person is definitely worthy to be our buddy, isn’t it? However, if anyone of you find a friend who constantly come to you only when they finds you useful, or only when they are in trouble and need your help. I’m sure you guys wouldn’t recognize this person as a buddy or your best friend. Similarly, If we could see God, faith is no longer needed. Then God will not be able to know if we are serious about Him. We probably just love Him for His blessing.Symos wrote:If God wants us to obey him, why does he not asure us of his exsistance?

can you prove that the bible tells the truth? can you prove jesus was the son of god? can you prove that hes not just some guy that controled people and manipulated them with magic tricks? so he can walk on water, turn water into wine, ect, but we have magicians these days that prform "magic" at parties, but i dont see anyone bowing to them and calling THEM our savior, fact is, god hasnt shown a sign he exists to more then one person at a time for the last several centrys, for all we know, he's just part of a story book that people made up, and that ever merical was just something someone wrote down out of their imagination for fun

re: does god really exist?
heres a fantastic point.
"If we talk to God, we're praying. But, when God talks to us, we're thrown in a padded cell?"
from that, its clear that most of the population are atheist, and deny existance of this one supreme being.

re: does god really exist?
There is one thing that the bible consernce me: Is it true? What I have heard on TV as a matter of fact, the bible was created from many visions of people. They believe this, they believe that, they believe 'whatsoever' the bible say. In Matthew, they say Gods parents were in Belen and gave birth to god. Lewis said they travel at a far distance and reached to Belen. Who knows? There is no way you can prove god existed in the past, though you have to believe what the bible say; there is no evidence; there is no proof!the bible sas this, the bible says that,...

religion is a way to manipulate the masses who DO believe. think about. the world was considered flat, right? those who said otherwise where heretics, and killed. ¬¬when someone proved it, well, lets face it, the cathlics walked away with their tails between their legs. then, the sun. it, and everything else revolved around the earth. once again, those who said otherwise where killed. now, tell me, is this censorship? is this manipulation? *looks at quiz answers* uh-huh, yep, it is...
