Death Note
Re: Death Note
Not many people know what it means, and it's very esoteric, so I'm sure that nobody would notice.
When life gives you lemons you make lemonade, but I say "LEMONS! Screw you life I want some freaking cherries."

Re: Death Note
Indeed. Besides, since this is an anime/manga website, everybody will get the point, even if they know what the original version meant.

Re: Death Note
How the hell can you have L-syndrome from Tetris? Are you addicted to the L-shaped pieces or something? XD
Re: Death Note
No I'm not. I just happen to know a large amount of info related to video games. Another such thing is Pac-man Fever, which can mean 3 things.

Re: Death Note
Ok we get it gyro- you hate death note and many other mainstream animes. Its ok as long as you leave the people who do like it alone.

Re: Death Note
I don't hate DN, but Monster is far superior and Death Note is horribly overrated. I'd give Death Note a 3/5 because I at least liked LKarin Rengu wrote:Ok we get it gyro- you hate death note and many other mainstream animes. Its ok as long as you leave the people who do like it alone.
And I don't hate all mainstream series. There are a number of Gundam series I like (but not SEED, dammit). I like Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragonball, and One Piece to name a couple. There's others too, but Naruto, Inuyasha and Bleach are terrible, and Death Note is mediocre. DN is worth seeing once, but it's not all that

Re: Death Note
You mean seeing the episodes once? Because i do have to agree with that. I've only ever seen every episode once but I know them all.

Re: Death Note
You're missing the point. What I'm saying is, it's a series that's fine to watch once, but it's not good enough to watch again and againKarin Rengu wrote:You mean seeing the episodes once? Because i do have to agree with that. I've only ever seen every episode once but I know them all.

Re: Death Note
It's ironic you should say that Gyro. I have a habit of viewing/reading shows and books only once. Though I have read all the DN volumes, I still feel the excitement when watching the anime. It could be mainly b/c of L, but I think it's also that I just really like that series in general.
I checked out Monster. Aside from the 'beneficial' murders, the plot doesn't sound much like DN to me (sounds more complicated), but it seems interesting and worth checking out.

That's what I meant by "seeing the episodes once" gyro. I don't think I could watch them over and over because after seeing them once I have them memorized. It's just something my mind does, not something I try to do.Gyro Zeppeli wrote:You're missing the point. Nothing to do with memory.Karin Rengu wrote:That's what I meant by "seeing the episodes once" gyro. I don't think I could watch them over and over because after seeing them once I have them memorized. It's just something my mind does, not something I try to do.
I've memorized all of the original Star Wars movies, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Spaceballs, and The Big Lebowski down line-for-line, but I still get enjoyment out of watching them because they are that good. In the anime/manga world JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Monster I find are like that (for a different reason than the movies of course), even after memorizing them, I still get a sense of excitement from them. Death Note is not like that for me, I was able to watch it through once, but on my second time around I just couldn't find myself that interested and gave up on it

Re: Death Note
Really? Once I memorize something, I lose all interest in seeing it again. Except for fullmetal. But even movies I watch, like I can't stand them once they're memorized no matter how good they are.

Why is that?
