Oh yea, speaking of moons does anyone know what Zangetsu (from bleach) acutally means? I get the moon part but what about the other character?

斬 = kill, murder
If you stumble across kanji like that, you can plug it into this kanji dictionary here:
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi- ... dic.cgi?1B
It'll give you meanings in English, and readings in kana (katakana for the ON readings; hiragana for the KUN readings).

Dreams, do you know a site where I can see the 1000 kanji I need for level 2 on Noryokushiken? With it's meaning and reading? Because I'd like to start as soon as possible to study them, but I haven't received the book yet.
(by the way, now I know that I'm the only one who passed on level 3. o__o)

Re: Words, phrases or anything else wanted? Ask here!
XD Ok just checking thanks!
Re: Words, phrases or anything else wanted? Ask here!
Yeah, there's kanji for both words.
Arigatou Gozaimasu
有り難う 御座います
(the り can also be taken out of 'arigatou' -> 有難う)
'Arigatou' is a conjugation of 'arigatai' (有り難い or 有難い) which means 'grateful' or 'thankful'.
But literally, the word 'arigatai' is combined from kanji meaning 有 (have) + 難 (difficulties).
And 'gozaimasu' is the polite version of the honorific verb 'gozaru' (御座る) which means 'to be/to exist'.
(There's a whole set of honorific verbs, like 'meshiagaru' takes the place of 'taberu' (to eat).)
And, 'gozaru' can also be spelled ご座る.
The symbol 御 is the kanji for the honorific prefix 'go-' that gets attached to some words.
(It works like the honorific 'o-' prefix, but they each go on certain words.)
And... and...
At this point, when you've told someone all this information, you sadly realize how geeky you are.
The use of 'arigatou gozaimasu' in kanji isn't too common, but it's not impossible to see it.
There are kanji versions for all the popular words, like 'sayonara' (左様なら)...
And that should actually be spelled 'sayounara', which you'll also sometimes see in kana.
And there are kanji versions for every question word (dare, doko, naze, etc).
Some of these are more commonly used in kanji (dare = 誰) (nani = 何), but the rest are usually in kana.
