Some say he gave up when Sango said he was just some stupid perverted demon, and thus commited suicide. While I like to believe that he was squished by giant boulders... of cheese.

" Afterwards, Shinta Nara became pissed at them for not doing his Ninjitsu tournament....thingy. He became enraged and begane going around destroying random things, and scaring children.... he scared a LOT of children. Afterwards he opened up a ninja school and lived a very happy life
