Wow Dragon X, do you know what you remind me of? An obsessive fanboy who refuses to believe in a little something called logic.

You have the gall to make a poll and compare two animes, even though you obviously do not know a single thing about Gundam, as I can tell through your presumptions about Phaseshift armor and cloaking systems. If you intend on making a poll about Gundam, you should have at least watched one of the TV series, Movies or OVAs in their entirety. Watching a few episodes here and there does not count. In fact, among all the mecha series I’ve watched in the past years, I believe the only military mechs that the Escaflowne could possibly defeat are the Steam Mecha units from Steam Detective, the Boss Borot from Mazinger Z, and the Patlabor unit Asuka-96 and possibly the 97 Python (This is assuming it is only equipped with its Electromagnetic baton, as the Escaflowne is no match for the Python if it is equipped with its 90mm shotgun).

And since you do not want to read my long post, let me break it down for you more simply, so that you can understand.

(I must say that I made an error in my first assumptions, the weights I listed are only the dry weights, the full weights would range from 8 tons up to 300 tons, with the norm around 80 tons, and I accidentally used Miles instead of Kilometers as the unit for speed)

Size
Mobile Suit sizes: 10-50 meters
Escaflowne units' sizes: 5-6 Meters
Winner: Mobile Suits

Weight
Mobile Suit weights: 8-300 tons
Escaflowne unit's sizes: approximately 1-5 tons
Winner: Mobile Suits

Armor
Mobile Suit's armors: Consists of highly advanced metallic alloys and electrically powered Phaseshift
Armor, all highly resistant to physical damage
Escaflowne unit armors: Iron, Copper and other poorly smelted metals
Winner: Mobile Suits

Propulsion
Mobile Suits: Rockets, Minkovsky Drives, subflight systems and Flight packs
Escaflowne: Legs
Winner: Mobile Suits

Weapons
Mobile Suits: Accelerated Particle weapons, Beam melee weapons, advanced firearms and missiles
Escaflowne: An iron sword (As shown by the Ginn in the first episode of Gundam Seed, Solid melee weapons are ineffective on Phase shift armor, and simply bounce off. Considering that the Ginn’s sword is superior in construction to the teeny tiny Escaflowne sword, I’d say that the Escaflowne is highly outclassed)
Winner: Mobile Suits

Visual Reception
Mobile Suits: 3 screen and Panoramic monitors, allowing both 180 and 360 degree views
Escaflowne: a Helmet like grille, that only provides a limited view, of approximately 30 degrees
Winner: Mobile Suits

There you go, the condensed version of my original post. Which amounts to Mobile Suits > Escaflowne in every regard.

Forgive me for the double post, but since this is a long post (And some posters have shown that they cannot digest long posts), I have taken the liberty of breaking my post in two. In this section, I will compare the Escaflowne with various mobile suits in combat situations.

Escaflowne VS Challenger II Main Battle Tank
The British Challenger II MBT is not a mobile suit. Hell, it is just a real modern age tank. However, the Challenger II is still easily superior to the Escaflowne, which was constructed in an age of medieval construction practices and tools. Its thick Chobham armor is capable of taking direct hits from high powered shells, and surviving, and I’d imagine that it would be more than capable of surviving blows from a crude medieval sword with little problem. It is also armed with a pair of chain-linked 7.62 mm GPMGs (General Purpose Machine Guns), as well as a rifled 120 mm cannon. Judging from the anime, the armor over Van’s area is little more than several inches thick, at most 4 inches, and that I highly doubt. A standard sabot round (which is basically a gigantic armor piercing needle) should be more than capable of penetrating the armor of the Escaflowne, or any of its equivalent Armor suits. Even if the Sabot does not directly strike Van’s body, it should (If I remember correctly) superheat the metal surroundings, and will cook his body like a turkey in an oven. As for HESH rounds, they should be capable of shattering the armor of the Escaflowne with explosive force, but if they don’t, the explosive fragments will still be able to kill van, through the slots in its visor.

In terms of size, the Challenger II’s low profile will be an advantage, as its low size will make it harder to hit. Its fairly fast speed at 56 mph will also mean that the Escaflowne will have a difficult time trying to hit it.

Winner: Challenger II

Escaflowne VS Guntank
Though the Guntank may be a crude and unwieldy mobile suit, its shoulder mounted 180 millimeter cannons and 40 millimeter rockets have shown to be effective on Zaku type suits, which are armored with super-high tensile steel. I do not know what the Escaflowne is armored with, but logic denotes that since it was constructed in a timeframe within a medieval period, it would thusly be armored with materials from that era, namely iron or copper, both vastly inferior to Steel in terms of durability. Though the Guntank is disadvantaged with poor mobility because of its tank treads, this is not an issue because of its Luna Titanium armor. As shown in the animation Mobile Suit Gundam, Luna Titanium armor is highly resistant against conventional explosives and firearms, but is highly vulnerable to particle based weapons such as beam rifles. However, considering that the Escaflowne is not armed with particle based weapons, and is only equipped with a single sword, which is constructed of metals inferior to Luna Titanium armor, it would not be able to damage the Guntank at all, unless it attacks the tank treads. But even with the treads damaged, the Guntank will still be able to fight on, via the use of its rocket boosters to move, or its internal Transformable FF-X7 Core Fighter located in the torso of the Guntank. The highly maneuverable Core Fighter is armed with four 25mm Vulcan cannons, as well as 8 missiles. Considering that the Escaflowne has no long range weapons, it will not be able to even damage the Core Fighter, whereas the Core Fighter will be able to damage the Escaflowne with little danger to itself. This lack of long range weapons is another detriment to the Escaflowne, the Guntank is an artillery mobile suit, optimized for long range combat. Its sensor range is up to 6000 meters, and it would be logical to assume that the range of the Guntanks armaments is at the very least, 6000 meters (However it is highly improbable that the Guntank’s range is only 6000 meters, considering its role as a support fire unit. As modern artillery pieces usually have a range of upwards of 10 kilometers, I would think that the Guntank would have a range similar.)

Winner: Guntank

Turn A Gundam VS Escaflowne

Can you say overkill?
The Escaflowne will not even be able to touch the Turn A Gundam. The Turn A is capable of regenerating and self repairing its damaged parts, is capable of flight using its louvres on its legs, and carries a Beam rifle which has an unimaginable power rating (as shown in the blast diameter of the TAG’s beam rifle in the second episode). It is also capable of teleportation, as well as turning invisible. Its Moonlight Butterfly Attack uses micro nanite machines to take apart metals on the molecular level. The Turn A Gundam constantly reproduces these nanite machines, making an infinite supply of nanobots, As shown when the Turn A Gundam turns a city into dust using the Moonlight Butterfly, anything made of metal will be taken apart, molecule by molecule, meaning the Escaflowne will be turned to dust within a matter of seconds.

Winner: Turn A Gundam

Gundam Double X VS Escaflowne
This is a nonfactor. As shown when 90mm bullets from Daughtress mobile suits bounce off the X, the Armor of the X line of Mobile Suits are also resistant to solid weapons. Its beam sabers, Buster rifle, G-Hammer, 60mm Vulcan Guns and Beam Javelins should be more than capable of destroying the Escaflowne, since they have proven to be effective at destroying mechs that have stats higher than that of the Escaflowne, in terms of armor, speed and weaponry (Though I cannot say anything for the G-Hammer and Beam Javelins, since they were only featured in the Models. Perhaps they would have made it into the anime, if it wasn’t cancelled, but alas.). But the holy grail of the Double X’s weapons is the Twin Sattelite cannons. I estimate that the blast diameter from a single Satellite Cannon to be approximately 30 meters. Considering the fact that the Escaflowne is only 5-6 meters tall, once the Escaflowne is in its crosshairs, it will be close to impossible for the Escaflowne to get out of the blast radius. The Satellite Cannon is considered a doomsday weapon, capable of dozens of mobile suits in a single blast.

Winner: Gundam Double X

Victory 2 Assault-Buster Gundam VS Escaflowne
Though the V2 is substantially smaller than most mobile suits, at 14 meters tall, it is nonetheless one of the most powerful, only preceded in raw firepower by the Turn A and Turn X units. Its speed is phenomenal, and as the most advanced mech in the Universal Century, it is equipped with the most advanced technology. Its Wings of Light beam wings can extend for more than a kilometer, allowing the V2 to destroy the Escaflowne with its beam wings from a kilometer away, and its Variable Speed Beam Rifles (VSBRs) are capable of firing both high velocity penetrating beams, and lobbing low velocity wider beams with more potent power. It is also equipped with a gigantic mega beam cannon on its shoulder, and a beam shield on its forearm. Equipped with a Minkovsky Drive, it is also capable of flight, and it can also separate into three components, the Top Fighter, the Bottom Fighter, and the Core Fighter. The Escaflowne is easily outclassed in every regard, but most of all, outclassed in weapons.
V2 AB’s weapons: 2 60mm Vulcan Guns, 4 Beam sabers, 2 Beam shields, 2 VSBRs, I Multi-launcher, 1 Beam Rifle, 1 Mega Beam rifle, 1 Mega Beam Shield, and Wings of Light.
Escaflowne’s weapons: 1 Iron Sword

Winner: Victory 2 Assault-Buster

Psyco Gundam Mk. II VS Escaflowne
This can’t even be considered a fight. The Psyco Gundam is about 8 times taller than the Escaflowne, and every one of its 35 Beam cannons is more than capable of burning through Gundarium alloys, much less the weak metal armor of the Escaflowne. It is also armed with 2 beam sword. The Escaflowne can't even scratch the Psyco Gundam Mk. II with its tiny little pigsticker, With a total weight of approximately 300 tons, The Psyco Gundam could just step on the Escaflowne and squash it.

Winner: Psyco Gundam Mk. II

And so far, my comparisons of the two have resulted in the Escaflowne being outclassed in every situation.

I hope Zengar finally put the nail in this coffin. I can't beleive this went for 5 pages.

Here's an other angle to consider. Earlier people put Kira in the Gundam, well lets put a Newtype like Amuro, Seabook or Kamile in the Gundam. The Escaflowne's defeat happens even faster as the Newtypes will have that sixth sense edge over Van (his name was Van not Von.

But Zengar, I think even an AT Votom could beat the Escaflowne.

The only things I'd worry about is an Aura Battler showing up on Upper Earth.

I don't care if you don't read it because it is your loss. I frankly do not understand how someone with English as a first language can even say that they don't read topics that are too long (This is under the assumption that Dragon X lives in either the United States or UK). English was not my first language, but I still manage to give other users a measure of respect by reading their posts in their entirety, and by making sure my posts are generally grammatically correct and spelled correctly. And on the other hand, I generally have little respect for those who cannot even spell correctly and fanboys who cannot spell correctly.

My post is more for the other posters in this thread than for Dragon X. Though I don't think that anyone needs convincing, as you are the only one who is refusing to listen to reason and logic.

I can't quite say much about a VOTOM, since the only anime I've seen in that franchise is Armor Hunter Mellowlink, and Mellowlink did not paint the image of the VOTOM very well, so I'll take your word for it. It is equipped with firearms, which is already an immense advantage over the Escaflowne. (I have money saved up for CPM's new VOTOM Re-releases though, I can't wait :bounce: )

However, were not the Aura Battlers massively overpowered on Earth? I heard somewhere that a single Aura missile killed thousands (My Dunbine DVDs have been sitting in my cousin's house in Seattle for the past 8 months, I have yet to find a way to get them to the Philippines that does not use our corrupted and inefficient mailing system.). If so, an Aura Battler would be superior to the Escaflowne in terms of firepower.

My belief is that the Escaflowne can only defeat the 1st and 2nd Generation Patrol Labor units, namely the Asuka-96 and the Python. The Asuka is pretty much an unarmed piece of junk, that is ineffective at just about everything. The Python however might lose to the Escaflowne, but only if it is not equipped with any of its equipment (Riot Shield, Stun Baton, 90mm Shotgun). Its exposed cockpit is also another disadvantage, as the Escaflowne could easily stab through the neck and kill the operator. However, if Python has just one of its tools with it, I'd think the Python could easily rape the Escaflowne.

Now I will say that this will most likely be my last post in this thread. I have given all my proof and evidence, as well as placing the mecha in theoretical situations. I have no intention of continuing to argue with someone who refuses to listen to logic.

They are boring to you bcoz you refuse to read them or maybe you say they are boring becoz you don't understand what is being said. Look Dragon X, don't make versus threads comparing two things when you know very little about either. If you don't know about something then do research. Also don't make one-sided versus threads like this one either bcoz it makes you look bad. If you want a good match up then do Itachi vs. Sesshoumaru bcuz they are on about equal footing. Oh and you need to learn to listen to logic and reason. ](*,)

That is correct about the Aura Battlers Zengar. When one comes into upper Earth the power is multipled, and the more powerful the pilot's aura the even more powerful it becomes. Like a flying H-bomb in some way, massivly overpowered that even the Gundam and Eva would be threatend by the presence of just one Aura Battler.

In Votoms there is a weapon an AT Votom can use that's a big gun, primarily to be used on starships. But yes, all ATs have a machine cannon or rocket launcher and can mount missile packs of some kind.

Dragon X from the posts ive read I have determined that you are a complete and utter moron. I have never seen escaflowne but judging from Zengar's posts and from what ive heard it would be a massacre. It would be no contest the gundams would win hands down. Dragon X you need to listen to logic and reason.
