Mirage of Blaze – Don’t let the first disc put you off. Things don’t get moving until well into the second one and then mystery after mystery starts to unfold. There’s a spirit world version of the Yakuza made up of 400-year-old samurai and ninjas still fighting over territory and settling old vendettas by possessing human bodies and dukeing it out with magic and spells. How’s that for a run on sentence? There’s also some deep relationship angst, as feudal warlords possess some very pretty Bishounen bodies. What with all the reincarnation and body borrowing there’s some gender confusion so be prepared for some man-to-man affection. Nothing drastic. Not a lot of fast action and you do have to think about who is doing what to who when and why. I like it. It’s a 7.5+ on my scale of one to ten. (7 = Extremely enjoyable. Makes me look forward to the next episode. One I might rent again.)
