Suggestion: Put a Stop to the Abundance of Spam

Maybe I'm the only one who is actually bothered by this, but I think that the posts in Pointless Chit-Chat should not count towards your post count. How exactly does having a high post count change anything? Well, it doesn't really, but it seems degrading to the community that the posts in PCC are more than all the other forums combined (Besides RPG, because that's the second biggest spam thread). People with higher post counts are stereotyped as being the eldest and wisest members of the community, yet half the people here over 1,000 posts get there by playing stupid games and not contributing anything at all to the community.

It's just sad that people boost like this:

I seriously think if there was no post count in PCC, that the spamming level would be reduced dramatically. Heck, even I was tempted to go count numbers and apples to get my post count up because of my mod application, but that's not how message boards should function. It's an unneeded temptation.

Maybe another form of action would actually be enforcing the no spam rule. Sadly, in the picture posted above, all of those posts were made in an anime discussion, yet no forms of action have been initiated.

It's not a big issue, but I believe it's one that should be taken care of.

I was kinda wondering why the stuff in pointless chit chat added stuff to your post count too. I've probably spammed more than I think I have, but the stuff like in your example iritates me, so I think it would be a good idea to stop counting posts there too.

Don't get me wrong, it's probably one of the best places to get to know and interact with the AA members, but it gets ridiculous how many people abuse the privaledge.

You're right...I think they should've just made it so that posts don't count there when they made the forum.

Yeah, I think that would be a little more rational. Of course, this probably isn't a problem that the mods can fix, but only the webmaster. It's a pretty big change to be made so I think he might be the only one who can do it. I'm not even sure if he logs on a whole lot. I never see him around, of course I'm sure he's a busy man. He probably pops his head in here and there to make sure everything's in working order. The key would probably be for someone who knows him to let him know of the suggestion, whether he's for it or not.

Sorry,Slash,but spamming is part of the fun in AbsoluteAnime. Pointless Chit-Chat is a very fun place: For when you're being random,consumed by boredom,and like to spam. I think the Webmaster did I good job of putting the PCC forum up there in order to let people spam somewhere else than basic-lined forums.

You see,forums are supposed to be fun,not stuck up and rule strict. I think the PCC forums are a great place to gain more posts and become more known.

Heh, I think you missed my point. I'm saying posts shouldn't count, not that there should be no PCC. Check the link I posted above to see what I mean about people polluting AA with useless posts and not helping the community as a whole. People anymore arent concerned with productive posts, but rather jacking their post count. We all, and I mean literally 'all,' know that it's being abused. I don't think counting to a million or random words really contribute to anything, boredom included. It's just a way of boosting post count without anyone caring. Spamming is alright, we all do it, but not to the magnitude that half the people here do. There should be more strict enforcement, so that discussions and debates occur, without having the 'lol' and 'I agree!1!11' between every post.

it;s true. anyone notice gaara of the desert has over 8000 posts here. i just hit 8000 posts before i left for a while and made a new account. he has been here for 6 months. that's more then 1000 posts a month. i wanna know where he does it.

Well, despite not really liking to make examples out of people, it does show that people can do it and get away with it. Not only that, but no one knows where the spastic posting happens at. It can go totally unnoticed.

i agree with slash. the Spam artists shouldnt really get posts for something as incoherant as hugging or slapping, or that f**king Numa Numa meme. but, is it hypocritical of me to say that since i post there?

on other forums that have a spam area, they dont get a post count for posting there (well, "Money" on the one i'm thinking of) but you get more forsomething origional, and i mean, 100% unique. most things here are repeated several times over. need i remind everyone of the time just after christmas when there were 7 Zatch Bell RP's back to back? -.-;;

As far as I know, there is no built-in way to stop your post count from incrementing when posting in a specific forum.
