Utena?

I've been toying with the idea of getting the Revolutionary Girl Utena series for a while now, so I just wondered if there were any fans out there who could give me their feelings on the show?

Good points? Bad points? Heavier on action or drama? Characters likeable or not?

And... would it be worth buying? Because I think at this rate, torrenting anything would take months since I barely have the computer on anymore.

Utena was my very first manga ^^
So obviously I have a soft spot for it.
The manga is wonderful, but the anime...it's not great. The animation is a bit dull, and the story makes no sense, I think.
The manga I do reccomend though, for a great story and a tear-jerking ending ^^ The art is also terrific, in my opinion.

As for Drama Vs. Action, it has quite a bit of both (a good point of it) And most of the characters are quite likeable.
The antagonist really will get on your nerves though ^^;

yeah, the manga is the way to go, in my opinion.

I would go with both the anime and manga. The manga is great, and the anime, I hear is actually quite good. Plus, once you read the manga, you might wanna get the anime anyway. If I were you, I would go ahead and get the anime, as it is out of print and getting very hard to find. If it turns out you don't like it, you can always sell it to F.Y.E. I myself am trying to get the anime as well, and I can say one thing: Utena is definitly better than some of the newer anime today (except for Bleach, but thats just my opinion.)

If you do want to see the anime, you might want to read the manga first, because it's easier to understand. ^^

Several months back, I found the Japanese manga for sale on eBay for $20, so I bought it. I really enjoyed the series and just want to bounce back in and say "highly recommended!" ^_^

There were some things I disliked about the ending, though. But overall, very good. I'd like to get the anime eventually so I can see them all move and talk, and be in color.
