kimba - betamax

Post by missamylou »

Hi
Im wondering if anyone has any informtion about an item i have. i have researched kimba the white lion and found that there is a series etc. i have a feature legnth film from sometime in the 1980's that is on a betamax tape (the one before VHS!) and i cant seem to find anything like it on the web. it is a film .. not a load of episodes ... it has a scene in it that seems to be 'the lost scene/rare scene' from some series episodes, i have looked on you tube and there is one person on there who seems to think they are the only person in the world who has this scene. its where kimba is swimming through the ocean and his mother appears in the stars and says a rhyme to him - my lion prince, so soft and furry, swim to the shore, dont you worry, someone watches, whatever you may do' to which he says 'mother' it goes on for about 2 mins. so obviously 2 people own this rare clip but im finding it hard to believe i own the only copy of this film? has anybody else heard of it?

I seem to be the only person (who is on the web) who has anything like this .... anybody have any info or comments?

I'm guessing that since its older than VHS, that the only people who have a copy like yours now are collectors. If you can get the exact title of the movie beyond just Kimba the white lion, it might help.

Otherwise, I'd say go to a pawn shop or I suppose maybe an antique store to see if you can find anything else out.

From what I've found, what you have isn't an actual movie. The first set of episodes, or the first volume is called "Son of Caesar". Its been rereleased on dvd.

I know the series, and I suggest that you look it up on google. I know it isn't the most reliable, but bear with me on this. There are actually two series - one of which you spoke of, and one made in 1998, though the English version only made it to fifteen episodes, and deserted due to reasons of the company. The Japanese version is much better anyhow, and not butchered by the America. Anyhow, the Japanese title of the series is Leo the Jungle King (I think), and you'll find both series on youtube by that name plus either 1980 or 1998, depending on which series you want. Need more info, let me know!

I believe I will begin the project of creating episodes based on the book series 'Acorna the Unicorn Girl'.

We've tried google, RoseWhiteCheetah, but it doesn't say anything about the Betamax, which is the main concern of the thread.
